They didn't do it from the C4 ZR-1 to the C5. And they didn't do it with the C6 from the C5 Z06. They won't do it with the C7. GM isn't that aggressive.

And most people under 40 have no idea what a stingray is other than some kind of animal in the sea...
lets talk again in January.

Take a look at this video of Ed Welborn talking about the stingray design shapes and it's making total sense in regards to the C7. He mentioned the stingray influence last year when asked about the C7 design direction.

I think this Stingray stuff can't go from model to model even though that makes a lot of sense . I see it more as a theme that gave the designers direction for the entire car. They would have to change the front and rear fascia to get away from the Stingray look. I don't know how it will work..

Thanks C4 and I made a mistake on the C7 steering wheel when I said it was being used in the Camaro ZL1. It is not . Paul Christian held my feet to the fire on that one!

If I find a Genie in a bottle somewhere before Jan. I guarantee you this is what GM will be unveiling as the new C7

What tires are those they had on that car? The tread pattern looked cool!!

Last I checked.. the 2005 400hp C6 w/Z51 package performed pretty damn close to the 2004 405hp C5Z06. In fact didnt Dave Hill say the C6 w/Z51 targeted the '04 C5Z06 as a performance measurement?

I dont know why anyone would be surprised if this happened again. Its called progress.. and after 8 years of the same 505hp Z06 model you would expect a pretty big leap in performance. 8 years is long time in the automotive world. I'd definitely like to see a base C7 approach current Z levels. That would set the path for C7Z to approach current ZR1 levels.

Stingray concept needed a little work but damn its a fine concept, looks like they are using the concept wheels on one of the new C7 mules

A couple more articles from Corvetteblogger that reinforces the Stingray connection.

Welburn obviously digs the Stingray concept. Thank goodness Chevrolet chose three sleek and beautiful design directives for inspiration. The Stingray, the Mako Shark, and the sleek and fast Corvette sailing ship. Porsche on the other hand based their 911 design on the beetle or as one of my Ferrari friends calls them, "The upside down bathtub".

Ha! Ha! Years ago there was a forum thread somewhere, wherein people posted car parts and we had to guess what car it was. Someone simply posted an upside down picture of a bath tub, with no comment. No one figured it out. I almost replied 911, but I thought it was too speculative. Damn, I missed a cigar.

I have to kind of agree here...and on a related note, the introduction of the LS3 in 2008 closed that 'C5 Z06 to base C6 gap' even further.
The base C7 likely won't exceed the overall performance of the outgoing C6 Z06, but I'm betting it might be closer than many people think.

You are correct. In fact, the 2008 Z51 with the LS3 was faster than the C5 Z06.

I have some good performance estimates for a nurburging time 7:33, 11.7s in the quarter mile, 0-60 3.7s, over 1g on skid pad, etc.

I would not have minded if this had come to be the C7 either....
Kind of a long car though.
