Default LT1 Exhaust Note

Anyone else curious what the exhaust note will sound like with the cylinder deactivation?

I'm not. I figure the sound I care the most about is when I am really getting on it.

The tilt stand dyno is pretty amazing. I have never seen anything like that!

If it is anything like my 2012 truck with performance exhaust, I do not see Corvette owners putting up with it (BTW my truck came with the exhaust new). The drone when it kicks in is pretty bad. It almost sounds like a "jake brake" on an 18 wheeler. I also have a 2008 truck with normal exhaust and AFM, it works okay.

My first thought when I left the dealer after buying the 2012 truck was "this is why the C6 didn't have AFM" Let's hope they have found a way to make it work

Yes, the dyno stuff sounds great but the question was about how it sounds on cylinder deactivation. Doubt that we would hear that on the dyno!

Id assume they'll try to overcome some of the odd/ noticable audible sounds with a more active-active exhaust system.

I just wonder how bad (not in a good way) it will sound when you change the exhaust like many members will.

I am sure WOT and acceleration will sound great, but doubt while cruising it does. I like hearing the slight rumble while cruising.

I would say the price of the aftermarket ones just went up trying to deal with this.

I think this whole cylinder deactivation will be one of the first things the aftermarket will try to remove, if that is even possible.

My 300C Hemi has cylinder deactivation and it's seamless without any noticeable changes. The technology Chrysler used in the 300 was developed prior to 2005, I am sure the newest version will be superior and will not affect the performance of our new Vette.

I've heard the exhaust on several of the test mules from very close distances, both at idle, while accelerating, and at cruise, and I don't think anyone will be unhappy with it's sound.

It's totally different from the C6, with a much more rhaspy note, and when they got on it, it sounded angry, and almost like a Ferrari. At cruise, it was very quiet and I could barely even hear it.

A couple of times under low load/ low rpm conditions, it almost sounded like a V6 Camaro, but it changed in tone and attitude a lot when they got on the gas.
