The factory has NEVER taken orders in November for the next year or next generation. I was number one for a C6 at my dealer and was dealing directly with the owner and inventory manager. My dealer put me on his list in December of 03, but it really meant nothing at a factory level. It just meant that I would get that dealers first allocation.

The C6 was officially unveiled at the Detroit auto show in January 2004 (I was there), and dealer orders were taken in the late May time frame.

The C7 is basically following the same program.

Hi,

just a question about the Detroit Auto Show, do you know if it will be possible to come close to the car, to go into ? Or will it be only a "show" car ?
I would like to come to the US for this Special event (at least one time in my life...I'm in France), or I will have to wait the Geneva Car Show in March where I saw the C6 in 2005.
If you have any information please share them, thanks

When the C6 was introduced it was a real car and you could walk up to it, but the car was not open. You might want to consider other shows like Los Angeles or New York. They are a little later and it seems to be that they actually get more new car introductions of cars that are coming out for the next fall. But if you want to see the C7 when it is first introduced, Detroit is the way to go.

It really disheartens me to read that statement.

As others have said 1/13/13. But why, why, why would anybody ever think they would show it at Barret Jackson's auction Vs a major car industry show where the automotive press is present in large numbers?????

I wouldn't be too concerned. There are a LOT of dealerships that don't sell many Corvettes and wouldn't be very involved. However, there is still a lot of time before 1/13/13 and months after that until the C7 can actually be ordered/delivered. Those who need/want to know will know when they NEED to know.

Barrett Jackson Scottsdale 2013 will be Jan. 13-20.. the 19th being "super Saturday" 6 days after the Detroit introduction. I'd be willing to bet an important body part there will be one there fetching ridiculous amounts of money.. but probably for a good charity. They'll be auctioning the right to own the first production model, the one we'll see roll across the stage will only be for show.

I placed a refundable deposit with my Dealer on 1/4/2004 as he expected around 5 allocations. For various reasons I moved up to #1 and the dealer called me near the end of May, 2004 to place an order with specific options. My name was on the order for first refusal once delivered to the Dealer and after my inspection. It was built and delivered to me on 8/31/2004. Great Experience for me.
