Here is the link for the following story. Think this makes it less or more likely the first production C7 will be auctioned off for charity at the same auction? This is new at the C7 Facebook page.
"GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson's personal 1958 Chevrolet Corvette will be auctioned off by the famed Barrett-Jackson Auction Company in Scottsdale, Ariz. All proceeds will be donated by Mr. Akerson to Habitat for Humanity Detroit and its efforts to rebuild the Morningside Commons neighborhood located just east of GM's Renaissance Center world headquarters in downtown Detroit."

Since B-J follows the introduction of the C7 on Jan. 13th I would think it's likely there would be one at B-J as well. I'll be there, so certainly hope so. The rights to purchase VIN #1 have been offered before on other models, so it would seem to be a possibility. I've got to think there will be more than one completed C7 prototype that can be shown by that time, so sending one to AZ could happen.

I would not doubt that VIN #1 C7 would be auctioned off there - or at least a low number C7 will be. Seems like there are those that pay big bucks for that bragging right.
In the past have they sold cars that weren't yet built? Saleable C7 #1 won't go down the production line until, what, July?
They have, in fact, done that. The 427 convertible was one example, I believe, and being for charity, was sold for BIG $$$. What with the GM CEO being there to sell his personal 1958, he could say that he is doing so (in part) to replace it with the the AWESOME C7. Natural big time marketing show potential

What better way to market the car. GM knows everybody watches Barrett-Jackson This will just fuel "I got to have one" and that is what GM is looking for.
