So has the vendor thing but we got shot down as usual. Why not have a vendor only fs section or deals. Letting them post up everywhere is just crazy and so is the complaining about it and the mods do nothing about it but copy and paste as you see above.

Restricting vendor posts to a vendor FS section makes about as much sense as putting all TV commercials on one channel.

In my opinion, members from all Corvette generations should feel free to discuss any other generation on whatever forum they wish. For me, 98% of all forums I've posted and watched are on the C5 General section, and I'm sure there are many like me. That's just my "home," so to speak. Some members, however, monitor several forums on a daily basis. To each, their own.

In the case of the OP, he wanted to poll his fellow C5 friends and followers on a design of the upcoming C7, a topic that is probably on the minds of many Corvette owners, no matter what generation(s) of cars they own or discuss. How is he going to do that if it becomes a requirement to post such discussions on another forum?

Please take a look at some of the posts you've made in the past. Did any of them belong in a different forum? Many of mine should have. Also look at my attempt at sarcasm in my post #18 in this thread.

And Moderators, I read and respect your rules of how to take up any issue with how the forums are managed. I apologize if this post is perceived to flaunt them - that is certainly not my intent. I just wish to answer to the OP, the posters and the followers of this thread why it's here on the C7 Rear section. I beg your forgiveness.

Thanks ...

Good stuff. When you think about it, it is an inherent problem to attempt to pigeon hole things that appear to differ. Turns out to be a subjective process performed by a select few for the masses. When we started the forum in 98 I was part of the crew that suggested the categories...it seemed natural to box in the generations. The C5 was king of the hill at the time. We C5ers, over time, could not give up the notion that all our attention should still go to that particular slot. Perhaps it is time to re-think some of the arbitrary boxes initially set up....as you adroitly described, seems more appropriate to 'think outside the box' on a regular basis....more human...it's how our minds work. The Tech section has far less traffic than General, yet remains at the top of the heap (just look at the definition of Tech). It should be the other way around....the more popular category naturally should be the primary focus, with Tech being subordinate to it. Way back, no one knew how successful the forum would become...the internet has a lot to do with it too.

It's a tough problem. Some members in a particular forum are there mostly for information and discussion of specific things. A C7 thread in C5 General is off-topic to them. It's easy to say "just ignore it" but be honest, C5 General and C6 General get so much daily traffic that filtering out the stuff that's not of interest is already a challenge. In fact it's already difficult for occasional visitors looking for information to find it without a lot of searching and sifting, to the point that a lot of folks don't think they even owe it an attempt. At a certain volume the thriving community becomes insular because it's too daunting for anyone but regulars to participate. At some point not everybody can stand next to the same bowl of chips and folks have to be willing to move around the room to sample the other conversations.

And as frustrating as it is for C7 General Discussion regulars to get thread-bombed by the other forums with the same old topics, C7 General has been a melting pot of opinion, and discussion of the next-generation car more vibrant and interesting for it. If each generation held separate discussions of the next-generation car, C7 General would probably be dead and most C6 fans might never hear the C4 fan's perspective.

Social order -- paradox, oxymoron, utopia.

Because C5 guys are a brotherhood and we have the right to discuss all things Corvette, correct? So, we are forced to switch forums and not chat with those we know well?

Ok...

Maybe my point was poorly worded but I think it was clear if one tried to understand. Didn't mean to rattle anyone's cage. Really it's all one big brotherhood so a cheapshot is even sillier still... whatever your point... reality is that far more C5 people wave then C6 people. I wave at every Vette and I get at least 5x more waves from C5's than C6's. With each generation backward, a higher percentage of people wave. Simple.

I have no issue hanging in all the forums and interacting with everyone because it is all one big club. However, with the time I have available to browse the forum, I usually don't make it past a couple threads of C5 forum. My question earlier was simply why did a thread have to be moved because it contained the words C7? No big deal really. Guess I shouldn't have even commented and then I wouldn't have ruffled any feathers.

Later.

And please save the reply that says your were just kidding. If that's true then do a better job of kidding.

I'm with the group that prefers C7 stuff to be in the C7 forum. I’m sure its racist or something but I just don’t care what they do, or don’t do to the C7, by the time I’m done with my C5 they won’t let me leave the nursing home to drive a C7.

I find it enough of a pain to open a thread to find out the OP started the thread four years ago. Oh almost forgot, Stay Off My Lawn.
