The fact that the new generation of Corvette is one of the most anticipated new cars of 2013 has nothing to do with GM's marketing plan. It has to do with the fact that it is a new generation of Corvette after 9 yrs of the same thing.
You just can not get over the fact that someone(GM) knows more about marketing then you do.
That rear end looks like Camaro taillights sandwiching and old Trans Am Phoenix logo. Horrid.
The whole thing looks very unoriginal, lots of design stolen from the ferrari and bits and pieces from a GT-R. Mix in the fact that underneath its looking alot like a C6 version 2.0 and it just doesn't do much for me.
I agree. There is a wheel at each corner, a head light on each front fender, doors that hinge at the forward edge, two wiper blades, a one piece windshield, duel exhaust, and other design features of other cars. How about building something that does not copy other cars?
I'm just saying......
I have a couple of hunches: (1) the world will NOT end tomorrow, 12/21/12. (2) These ambitious Corvette "renderings" are ALL waaaaaaaayyyy off, the C7 will NOT look like ANY of them on 1/13/13. --
I'm betting my life on the first, and nothing on the 2nd.

Seriously, you think this campaign is responsible for all the interest in the first generation of Corvette to come out in 9 years? Just the fact that this is a new generation of an automotive icon after all this time is the vast majority of why people are interested.
MOST of what we have been talking about here for a year is because of Jalopnik/Omega/Keeks and not GM. I maintain that if they hadn't said one word until 1/13/13, they would have about the same amount of anticipation.
I do think that their LT1 announcement was the first real marketing info we received and I thought that was very well done.
All GM has done otherwise is these silly videos that tell us basically nothing. Now, if we have definitive proof later on that Jalopnik/Omega/Keeks were GM-devised tools, I will give them the label of all-time marketing geniuses!!
I mean c'mon man...you even think that the C7 will have round tail lights!! Is that because of GM marketing?
Just teasing you Blue. I think the marketing guys take what they are given and run with it. A friend of mine was with marketing GM. When the new GTO'S came out they did not have duel exhaust. He freaked out but could do nothing. It is all with the design guys and the white shirt guys.

Your wife knows more about marketing then you do. She knows it's not what you show but what you don't show.

And then there was that Firebird with dual exhausts, but both on the same side!
I think the front looks worse than the rear in this rendering.
I think they're flat-out wrong. I fully expect to love the "real" C7.
This rendering looks like a C6 with "C7 lights."
I think just about every whiner here will be looking to get one within a year. Fact is, they will mostly all end up loving it.Happens on nearly every change. I have not been here much and find it amusing folks are still whining about the ridiculously outdated round taillights they think they are going to miss and Camaro queues that they don't like. Just looking at the bad renders out there, most of which are not even in proper perspective, and it is obvious that the C7 is going to toast the C6. I love my C6 but the new one is going to make it look weak and outdated as most all new generations do. I know that folks that just picked up a brand new C6 probably don't want to recognize this however.
