over thr rear wheel .time will tell
Probably because split windows were a bad idea in '63. They're awesome on that car, but only because it was a one-year thing. Functionality-wise, the '64-'67 windows are far better. In my opinion, it is enough of a tribute to call it a Stingray. And as far as the back goes, the side rear panels are a bit bulky. Finally, is it called a "Sting Ray" or a "Stingray"?

C4 tail lights on the 84- 85 were round. The later were not.

Lets see what happens and what the aftermarket offers. The new "upgrades " will make the car more "liveable"...

I hate hate to admit it but...... it doesn't look as good driving in that video.... I'll take a built C6 Z06 or ZR1 over that any day of the week

Default Keeping my C6

I am on my second vette. Had a C5 for 8 years loved that car. Just bought a C6 in June love this one more. Dont want the new one next I want a Grand Sport. The C7 looks too much like a minicamaro from the rear, everything else is awsomw. They forgot that distinct corvette look from the rear. . .

And unlike those cars, the Corvette will actually be affordable.

As I mentioned before in an earlier post, tail lights for Corvettes 1991-1996 their are squarish. I am sure many of you are aware of that. They are not perfectly round as the 1983-1990 Corvettes or the C5's tail lights (C4's are more oval shaped). According to http://web-cars.com/corvette/1991.php

"The rear view was also promoted; the change to a convex shape and more squared tail lights was premiered in the 1990 ZR-1. Many felt the move was the beginning of the end of the ZR-1 option, as most of its distinctive appearance was now shared with the more pedestrian Corvettes."

Now the new C7 has this new squared tail lights back again but with a newer look. Yes I understand and agree that it does look similar as the Camaro's tail lights, but we can easily say that Corvette had them first. Since when did Camaro have 4 squared tail lights? I am sure many of you asked yourselves that same question when the new Camaro came out with those tail lights.

Keep in mind, all of Corvette's tail lights weren't always round. In the end, people will either like it or hate it. Or maybe it will gradually grow on some people just as it grew on some people back in 1991. I currently own a 1996 Corvette and I really do like the new C7 tail lights. In my opinion, the tail lights from the new C7 got updated to a more modern look from the squared tail lights from the 1991 - 1996 Corvettes.

Well said and frank... But I think it is far o simplistic to compare square and round. Yes we all mentioned shape but this is because it is had to say what we love about or hate about a "look"

The rear end just looks bad. I know an engineer wants to know more details (why, how, where) but an artist just knows what is ugly and what is not. The rear is just ugly. The longer I look at it the more I laugh and hate it. It is just ugly. It is not going to grow on me/anyone. It is ugly and if anything as soon as the newness fades, more people will see it is ugly.

Remember the Pepsi Challenge? Pepsi is sweeter so in a blind taste test people chose the sweeter drink. It looked like the end for coke; but after a few seasons passed people decided that sweet wasn't so good. a tall glass of Pepsi was too much for many. (New coke by the way had more sugar to compensate, then the whole Coke Classic turn). My point is that Chevy obviously pulled a Pepsi Challenge to determine which rear end design to go with. They hired a new team that could not see the big picture and they screwed up.

I agree bwFredette. I just don't like that C7 rear. The rest looks good or okay and will grow on me. But after seeing a recent post looking dead on at the back of the red C7, I know that won't. Hope that gets the first change in 2015.

Nice view - thanks. Still think it might grow on me and some is good. But that rear end looks like a tarantula face.

It's overstyled in my opinion, like a Hot Wheels car or someting.

Hope it will grow on me though

I hate the matching color on the dash --- hope you can order the car without that TACKY look. If you can't delete that TACKY trim, first thing I would do is dye it black. As far as the rear tail lights, I kinda like them --- but I'm sure there will be aftermarket lenses that just replace the stock ones and give you the round look that many seem to want --- my guess, a $300 mod at the most. No, you won't have to replace the whole rear end which would be crazy and hugely expensive.
