Nothing is perfect. .. but GM finally has an actual 200K looking super car Corvette. Makes the C6 Z look ancient. Wait till they appear on the lots. You guys that hate it are stuck in the past. Sorry to say. It 2013. Not 1975. The Corvette needed a major overhaul. Does not look anything like a Camaro from behind. Base C6 was a huge dissapointment. Wimpy etc... This car which was a base model is the first base model Corvette I'd actually buy. Maybe in a couple years hopefully. Stop this BS. GM is looking at a younger demographic. I see Ferrari Audi R8 etc.. Still Americana. Best ever from initial views.. Time will tell I suppose.

Unfortunately, this is the first Corvette introduction that I'm not excited about. So sad... I couldn't wait to get a C5 and then the C6.
I love the technology they've put in the car, and I think performance will be great (nothing major over the current cars), but that body is a tough pill to swallow. Too many angles and way too many pieces of screwed/glued on plastic. I agree with some others that said it will only look good in black. Hopefully the Z06 version will be better.
Interior looks great, other than the colored bar running across the dash. I love how they moved it closer to the cockpit style interior of the C4. Hopefully the C7 will get a mid-lifecycle body refresh just like they did to fix the look of the C4.
It will be interesting to see how first year sales go. My prediction: Considering the economy, less than half of the success the C6 enjoyed.

And that's just a start John! Actually to be honest I'm not real up on the tranny, tell me your thoughts! The more I look at the car the more it's butt ugly! I wonder who makes these decisions. The C6 is such a nicely designed car, the 7 seems confused with itself.

Jeeese,I like it but do you have to insult my and everyone elses vettes?B.T.W.,some talented aftermarketer is gonna get rich with a more traditional rear bumper design.Everyother panel is sweet and corvettesque.

Critical Opportunity Missed
Technologically, appears to be a success. Can't achieve much weight reduction with the Federal regulation garbage.
Design wise - front looks great
Sides are OK, sort of - too many artificial sharp edges
Rear - a strike out - Camaro lights, unnecessary sharp edges and
concave surfaces/pockets.

Even though I'm not all that happy with the C7, I'm sure I'll own one at some point. It's still a Vette, after all.
I'm not sure how many of your were actually around for the C5 and C6 intros, but the negative reaction is WAY worse this time around. In 05 the haters were probably outnumbered 10:1, today it's the inverse.

Melting Slicks
99 lbs is just the frame....you're forgetting that they added a heavier engine, larger heavier brakes, a lot of electrical goodies....so it may still weigh almost as much as the C6 base.

There is no originality or creativity at GM anymore. The C7 looks like a conglomeration of Camaro, 370Z, Eclispe, and a few ricer parts. The interior looks like an evolution of a C4.
The C7, IMHO, will be short lived. And, could it be the last Corvette?

Maybe in this thread. I'm on a VW forum and the guys there absolutely love the car. Same with the BMW I'm on. Go figure.

What really catches my attention is the 7-SPEED WITH ACTIVE REV MATCH and you have to admitted the interior has come along way from the the C6's. But I just can't wait till the H.P Z06 & ZR1 are released, curious about what kind of numbers they will be producing with the new LT1.
