I was looking over the GM site to see if I could find out any info on the automatic transmission, and I see that the manual (7 speed) now has "active rev match" built into it. Interesting feature.
Though I still can't find any information about the automatic, particularly if it is a dual clutch transmission.
I also notice that they say the active fuel management (cylinder deactivation) can be shut off with the push of a button.
I assume the active rev match is the same as what the Nissan 370z does, it just blips the throttle for you on the downshift. Auto tranny is probably identical to the one used in the C6.

As I understand it GM has an 8 speed Auto in the works but it isn't there yet. Possibly a year 2 upgrade. But I seriously doubt it's a DCT. I don't think GM Powertrain even has one in the works.
I had heard they were working with Aisin to use the Lexus A8 but obviously that didn't pan out. I think the A6 that's in there is going to be very similar to the one in the current Grand Sport.
Based on my experience with the previous 6 speed auto, and the fact that they have locked down the electronics in this car so tight, I don't think I'd even consider the automatic, even though I'd prefer it over the manual. The way the slaughter the programmed shift speeds to achieve better gas mileage totally ruins the driving experience, and from what I can see, you won't be able to easily "re-tune" the transmission anymore like you used to be able to do.
It's a shame too, because I'd really like to have an automatic, but GM will force me to get a manual if I buy a new one, simple because they can't/won't program them to shift properly.

I remember seeing that the dual clutch trans went out the window with GM's bankruptcy...
I've always driven manual cars, but was ready for an automatic. That is, until I drove the 370Z with the rev matching. It's an awesome feature. I think the C7 is beautiful, but when I heard about the Active Rev match I was REALLY excited. People will love using it.
