Considering the amount of time they had to design this car, there are really only a few things that I don't like. BUTT, there enough for me not to buy one!

The tail lights being the worst design feature, copies of other car designs the GM design team cut and pasted into the C7 design. The otherone that bugs me - is the STINGRAY logo - just stupid - like the hood window on the ZR1 and is this just a last ditch effort to make something from the past come to life again? NO thought put into that at all! Just because it worked back when, why now, are they that desperate to be something the car isn't. Well, yea there are those that will buy into to it. Whatever, that's OK, not me.

The Corvette has established itself very well over the years, but only to try and be like somebody elses car. WHY, can't the designers believe that and create a CORVETTE, not steal design features from other makers! How hard is that?

I dunno. Why do you keep typing the same post and putting it in different words?

The STINGRAY was a bone tossed to the geezers and a bit of nostalgia for Corvette fanboys.
For most, however, the name Corvette says it all.

Umm, I'm not a geezer and I own a C3 Stingray?

They are paying homage to the heritage of the Corvette, and I'm cool with that.

Based on some of the other threads that point out basically the same thing and to even take it further.

So, now the car will be called a Corvette Stingray or Corvette Stingray Grand Sport or Corvette Stingray Z06 or Corvette Stingray ZR1 - given that the last two are produced!

Or have they dropped the Grand Sport title now?

There is one positive, or at least I didn't see it - THERE NO FU---- GM LOGO ON THE CAR! YEA!!!!!!!!!

Well, I can see where you are going with this, but remember that there were many engine options/variants with the earlier Sting Ray and Stingray's -- people still just knew them as Corvette's.

Actually, one of the first things I said to myself when I saw the first side/profile view was that the C7 kind of resembles the C3 Stingray with the longer nose and over all dimensions of the upper lines with the rear glass etc.

It looks like they carried the Stingray name over from the concept car, but I'm not seeing C2-C3 influences, or any retro styling, in the car.

There are definitely some C3 resemblances IMO.

I don't know how someone can not want to buy a car because of the way it looks and yet own a station wagon.

If they name the base car the Stingray, they can give names to higher-end cars.

And if Corvette becomes a marque, not just a car, like Porsche, they can build other cars, higher or lower, under the Corvette brand.

Not necessarily their plan, but it makes that expansion possible.

Everyone that I've shown it to thinks the stingray emblem was a huge mistake. Looks tacky.

They love the car, hate the logo.

I'm also not crazy about calling it a stingray. "Corvette" was all it should've been.

The fender badge is probably just a stick-on that can be removed with a little fishing line and a hairdryer.

It may be named as an homage to Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter.

Too soon?

Exactly. Other brands such as Jaguar and BMW have added new models. Why not Corvette?

When GM discontinued the Solstice / Sky, they left a lot of sales on the table. A new lower tier car would give them a product to experiment with different materials and different engine formats - V6, hybrid, electric, mid-rear location - all sorts of ways to push the sports car envelope without alienating the core customer base of the legacy "Stingray" platform.

Stingray = V8, front engine, rear wheel drive, two seats.

I'm 41 and a C3 owner, don't know if that makes me a geezer or not, but.....

There are definite C3 styling cues in the C7, but not quite as many as in the C6. I"m not crazy about the taillights, but I do like the Stingray name and the Stingray logo. The logo is a great nod to Bill Mitchell's Stingray racer.
