Reality is folks will pay MSRP plus dealer markup for the privilege of being first in line. It will happen early on. GM did their homework. The car is a home run.

And I bet after a full year of sales, the C7 will have doubled vette sales.

Dealers will be charging ADM - additional dealer markup - over list price for the first 6 months or so and will get it. There are more folks with $ out there that just have to have the first new one in town. Think back to the C6 Z06 and it's original pricing, they were going for $10K over sticker in my area. Can't wait to see what the first C7's are listed at.

A lot of difference between 2004 and 2013, namely the economy. I don't expect the initial demand for the C7 will be near as strong for the C7 as it was for the C6, thus prices below(way below) MSRP will happen very fast. Of course, the dealers don't want you to believe that.

Wall Street Journal reported GM was expecting weak sales on
the vette.
I never pay retail so I will wait awhile. Maybe I will find a good
deal.

ADM...that's redundant...a mark up on top of a mark up? It should simply state; 'dealer mark up'. additional means they marked it up twice...

Actually Kerbeck Corvette was selling them $2,500 off MSRP in December of 2004 .

With our "new normal" economy regardless of being the "NEW" C7. I wonder how many individuals are going to run to the nearest Chevy dealer to place an order for the 2014 considering that many are just lucky to still have a job .

Dealers taking reservations for allocation slots are guaranteeing to be competitive - at or below MSRP. If market demand is high enough, those of us who want a C7 right away will pay MSRP, but if the buyers aren't there, prices will be lower.

So please, everyone, don't buy a C7.

I have gotten to know a few dealers very well - meaning the owners and top management. It's entertaining to sit and talk to them about their business. I hear stories all the time of people walking in buying cars without negotiating at all.

A few years ago I ran into a guy who's wife bought him a "427 Edition" Z06 as a surprise. She walked into Bill Heard in Houston (now gone, for good reason) and paid way over sticker. Even when I talked to the guy who had owned it for a couple of months he thought it had a special 427 with more hp than the regular Z06 because that's what the salesman told his wife.

Bottom line, yes - many folks will pay MSRP and assume that there is no negotiating.

And it was not until late 2009 that a buyer was able to get 20k off of sticker on a brand new z06

So, now you know why we sometimes see two and three year old Vettes on dealer lots.

(sheesh, yet another zombie thread returned from the dead... but, still a propos, I fear)

How does someone only get 11 likes with 11,795 posts?
