Well, he makes a point that Vette Racing wasn't present at the show but it is still very early for that.

C7 WILL be in racing unless the economy totally tanks. Just look at the other Chevy Racing that is going on...new SS dedicated to NASCAR, the CTS-V Racing, and the Corvette Daytona. It's gonna happen.

GM couldn't race a C7.R this year even if they wanted to. They won't be able to get the car homogenized until it's in production, but i'm sure there's a locked door somewhere with a design team already working on it.

Pratt&Miller will have the C7 ready for the 2014 season opener at the 24 hours of Daytona I would expect.

It would be foolish to launch a new car for the final year of the ALMS. Once the series is homologated with GRAND-AM and there are concrete rules, then it's smarter to launch. You don't want to engineer a completely new race car from the ground up twice!

There is no Corvette if there is no Racing program

Exactly! It's simply timing. It doesn't make sense to show up with a race team that has to run a C6 when introducing the C7.

I think they did the best they could in relating this car to the racing program by pointing out the suspension and aero stuff that is derived from it given the transitional period of not just model redesign but also sanctioning bodies/rules.

I mean, even the amateur ranks of corvette racing were thrown into a tizzy with what SCCA and NASA did to their rules. With a national organization (Grand Am / ALMS) still up in the air about corporate racing...there is no way to define the C7.R right now.

I spoke with Pratt & Miller and was told the plan is to run the C6R this upcoming season and then run a C7 the following year (2014).

`AS it stands right now, Grand Am/ALMS with merge in 2014 and the GTE class in ALMS will be carries over for the 2014 and 2015 season. Beyond that it is anybodies guess. I would however expect Pratt&Miller to have the C7 ready for the merger season.

I am looking forward to see the C7 in race trim. And I agree, there is a locked door and the Corvette Racing team is hard at work.
