Just read through this thread. I am an old guy, 69 to be exact. Always owned, and liked chrome.
However, when I ordered my new C6, I decided to try something different. Black wheels, black headlamp doors, fender badges, etc. All Blade Silver/Black accents machine.
I'm waiting anxiously, as I expect it any day now.
It should look like this...
EDIT: ChineseGoddess, that wheel is really beautiful, as is the photo.

Let me first say I'm not a fan of chrome wheels. Ironically, not since I was a kid. I prefer polished or any color paint except black so that you can see what the darn thing looks like. What's so cool or glamorous about black wheels? Would one of you "kids" please explain this concept to us older guys? It's CLEARLY a fad that will pass hopefully sooner than later.
If you're more than 25 ft. away these wheels look just as good as any black wheels I've seen. And if you're moving more than 5mph, they look EXACTLY the same!

haha,, thats true isnt it. They do look a little like that.
Everytime I see a beautiful vette with black wheels, I want to throw up. I realize it's the latest "in" thing & are selling to those who think they are great, buy I think the easiest way to make a vette( or any other car) look ugly, is to put black wheels on it. Why bother paying big bucks sometimes for beautifully designed after market wheels like HRE, when you have to spend all day trying to make out the definition of the wheel. Totally ridiculous.

LOL...yeah thats about it they all look the same and when in motion just looks like a black hole where the wheel should be.
It's been a fad for awhile--GM just found out about it.
Incorrect. GM's known about it for quite some time, actually. See: the 1996 Grand Sport Corvettes with the black 5-spoke ZR-1 style wheels.
For whatever reason, they've hesitated to do black wheels since then (internal corporate rules or something? Not sure!) But they've always known about them and have known how good they make the car look.
Gee, I wonder why chrome wheels are found on most C6's(53% for 2012 MY)?
Because most C6s are bought by dealers and put on lots, where loaded-up options add money to the sticker. And nothing adds (useless) costs to a car like those horrid chromies.
