Base C7 Best Drivers Car?
It will always be compared to a Carerra S and it will never be given the nod as the better car. I wouldn't expect that to change any time soon. It might beat it around every track in the world, but no magazine is going to give chevy the overall win over the Porsche. I don't see that happening.

I would think that that the C7 or even a C6 would be able to handle the base 911. The base 911 is only rated at 350 hp? Now I think it may be a little closer between the 911 GT3 RS as it is rated at the same 450 hp, but the GT3 4.0 is rated at 500 hp, but the torque is down in the high 300 range. Now if you are referring to the 911 Turbo that is putting out a nice 560 HP and the C7 will not be any competition for it.
1) Base Carrera 911 starts at $97,285 CDN
350 HP Torque: 287 lb-ft
0 - 100 kph (60 mph) 4.8 s
2) Carrera S starts at $112,800 CDN
400 HP Torque: 310 lb-ft
0 - 100 kph (60 mph) 4.5 s
3) 911 Turbo starts at $156,900 CDN
500 HP Torque: 480 lb-ft
0 - 100 kph (60 mph) 3.7 s
4) 911 Turbo S starts at $183,400 CDN
530 HP Torque: 516 lb-ft
0 - 100 kph (60 mph) 3.3 s
BASE Corvette Stingray Price N/A (2013 BASE C6 STARTS AT $62.600 CDN)
Estimated 450 hp, 450 lb-ft of torque
0 - 100 kph (60 mph) in under 4.0 seconds
P.S. THE ABOVE PRICES LISTED ARE WITH NO OPTIONS
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Looks like the BASE Stingray out powers both the Carrera & Carrera S
the ZO6 will be in the Turbo 911 & Turbo 911 S territory
Better off buying a Z06 or ZR1 at those 911 prices.
I love the recent generation of Porches but I find them overpriced just like Apple products and offer little. (in the sense of STD equipment)
Some of their options are ridiculous and should be standard to begin with, and those options can add 50% to 75% of the cars base price. I love the last generation of the 911, but you get a better value and more for your money with a C7. You can't compare them, each car is unique to itself both have great and bad qualities.
God knows what the ZR1 will do. Ferrari Territory

We all know that any of the European car are way over priced compared to the Corvette, That has always been the great thing about the Corvette. You could get a world class sports car at half the price. What was once the leading factor in the higher price was the workmanship that went into the Porsche, Ferrari and the others. That is still true today, however I read an article the other day (don't remember where) that many of the Porsche people are say that what was once a car that would last for years is not so any longer.
There is more to a "drivers car" than sheer power. Corvettes have always been the better buy in terms of performance for the dollar and always will be unless something drastically changes with either Corvette or Porsche.
I can't speak for the current C7, but I've been in a ZR1 and my dad owns a 911T and the 911 is well worth the price over the ZR1, to me just in terms of build quality, interior design and interior material quality. I'm not sure about adding 50-75% over the base price either. My dad's 911 had the chrono-sport package, short-throw shifter and thicker leater steering wheel added on. We didn't feel anything else was necessary and don't feel anything is missing. Yes, you can get crazy with the options which are all a la carte, but they're certainly not necessary. They just cater to a level that most are not used to (we certainly weren't) When we looked at the options book for the car it was insane. It was literally a book.
I can't wait to get in a C7 because I know it will certainly close the gap that has always been there between Corvette and Porsche. That, coupled with better steer feel, throttle feel and connection with the road and you'll have something that easily rivals the Porsche in terms of driving satisfaction. Can't wait for the C7 to be available for me to check out
I believe the C7 will bet a better "driver's car" in every way than the C6 was.

Look at this forum, for instance. You'd think all Z06's are about to explode
