Default Hidden cubby need to be coded

I suggest the small storage behind the center console display have optional coded lock. User need to (optionally) punch a code in order to access this storage area. This code, unlike the memory seat and radio stations, is not linked to individual key fobs.

I understand you thought but you need to remember what it is intended for. This isn't meant to be a gun safe or a place to store your valuables or passport. It is just a place to keep your phone plugged in once underway. It is fairly small and has a USB port for your phone to charge and allow it to be used via pairing to BLuetooth.

The thought is when you get ready to head out you put it in there and when you stop, you retrieve it.

How would you suggest the code lock be integrated ? A 10 digit keypad someplace? Or scrolling through a **** left or right and clicking on each number? A barrel style numberic lock like on a small cash box? Any of the above sound inconvenient and impractical to me. Besides, I'm pretty sure it won't open without the fob. I'd also bet it won't open if the valet mode is used. If it were me, I'd leave that display hidden everytime I park someplace insecure. "Outa site outa mind" and all you would see is a cubby.

I think it would be to have it. However, i think if someone is going to break into your car to get at whatever is in the box, they probably would just take the car.

A hammer would negate the coded cubby hole. Problem solved.

I'm guessing the vast majority of thief's wouldn't even know it's there to begin with. Plus, wouldn't you have to have the car running or accessory power to lower it?

The same can be said for a house window and its lock, but that doesn't stop people from putting valuables in their home.

I think it needs a manual way of getting it open. Electronic's do fail from time to time.

As Paul said, just a place to put your phone and plug it in. Then take it when you get out.

NO, it doesn't. Look at the interior shot of the dash - see that button to the left of the screen that says SCREEN with the arrows - push one and it'll go UP or DOWN. It's that simple, I don't think to many people willl even think to look behind an electronic screen to steal anything you leave in it. This is one of the nicest features of the interior, how sad.

This is kinda like the NAV system in my 2011 CTS-V - it goes up and down to use it and also has the back-up camera info on it so, it goes up and down automatically when you put the car in reverse, really stupid idea when it could have been designed into the dash without movement - YEA like the C7. Though I dislike the C7 console compartments, another issue.

Not sure, but isn't it true that the newer Vettes C5 - up are pretty hard to steal, yes it can be done, but how often have you heard of one being stolen?

Some of us (thankfully) don't need to carry guns.
For me it will be sunglasses and/or phone.

Why is anyone storing anything important in it?!

It's for your phone. There's a glove box for the rest.

Everyone needs to carry...that's the problem...

Nothing wrong with people enjoying their rights as a law abiding citizen. 99.5% of gun owners are law abiding people. Criminals will have guns...period. Foolish to not defend yourself and your family.
