It looks like there is reduced foot space by the pedals kind of like the C4. I wonder what this is about?

That section is cast, but the overall frame includes hollow-cast, vacuum-die cast, forged, and hydroformed aluminum-- each meeting a specific design need. Here's a really good SAE article on the frame:

Good article, and I thought the Z06 frame on display at the museum was something.
The frame is now assembled at the Bowling Green plant, way to go GM.
The last sentence in the article is noteworthy.
"Although GM spokesmen did not reveal the new Vette’s curb weight, they did indicate that it will weigh a bit less than the current vehicle’s 3208 lb (1455 kg)."
