Default Proportions

I've been doing some quick and dirty adjustments to the rear of this car to see how it looks with less visual mass on the *** end and to my eye there are great improvements to be had by reducing the height of the rear fender and hatch area as well as raising the bottom edge of the rear rocker area a little bit.

One of the main contributing features to the rear-heaviness, in my opinion, is the curve of the top edge of the rear fender. The apex of this curve is located at the back of the car, thereby building mass all the way to the very end. By adjusting the curve so that its apex is directly over the rear wheel, which is a far more classic practice, the profile becomes more streamlined and balanced with the front of the car.

Why?

Nobody whined about the big butt of the C6...ever.

If you are somehow of the opinion that your 'adjustments' look better...I'd rethink that thinking. IMHO...

Interesting, I like how the back glass looks in your adjustment. That may shed a few pounds of body weight off the car as well. Any chance you can give the rear c6 tail lights and make the rear fascia body color? Just curious what the entire car would look like then.

Nice renderings, but I'm going to have to the the original is still the best. Sexy color and wheel combo. I don't know how people can look at it and be like ewwww, haha

The one problem with your adjustment, is the car loses some masculinity. The wraparound rear window version is just plain ugly.

Oh Ive made some introspection on the design: I think the car should: cost 40Gs, have mid engine, come in Pink, have widder tires, not have electtic steering assist, have coil overs from the factory, come stock at 4LT At 40Gs, do zero to 60 @ 3.2, weight less than 3000.....etc etc etc.....Guess what.....NONE OF THAT exists....what exists is the car in front of us...If you dont like it, dont post, just move on to Viper, Porsche, Aston Martin etc and let the rest of us IDIOTS obviously love the car and enjoy it as it has been designed.....Man, millions of dollar os research and development goes into something and Joe says, I think it should have, or be better if it had, or it better not have....Just move on

The adjustment looks ugly. Looks like a C5 FRC on the rear. I think the original looks a lot better.

I like the side profile of the car as is, but I actually kind of like your middle rendering. Also, this is your opinion and you have the right to voice it.

One advantage of the virtual change is that you have more rear-end ground clearance when you do a wheelie off the line!

I think I'd rather have room to stow the top or a suitcase than shrink the rear, even if it looked better, which it doesn't.

Some people here on CF do like the styling of the C5 or C6 better than the C7 at this time. These alterations to the C7 design might appeal to those people because they make the profile look more like a C5 / C6. For the rest of us, adding the droopier tail makes the car look dated and less aggressive.

Glass is more heavy than composite body panels

Looks to me like your trying to take a beautiful C7 and turn it into an outdated C6. I'll take GM's version. Good thing they didn't ask for styling cues from around here, or we may have been stuck with the C6 forever. Round taillights and friggin bubble rear window. Yikes
