Default C7 High Performance Model

I realize Z06 and ZR1 is engrained into our brains, and MT has made a statement about predicted horsepower in the Z06 and ZR1, but then again we know how MT likes to sell magazines.

I have not heard anything out of GM about the next high performance Corvette in the C7 lineup, so we don't know that there will be one (not officially anyway). So why not refer to it as the high performance model. Who knows it could be called an LT4 or LT5 or even an L88. I t could also be something we have never heard of or thought of and of course it could still be a Z06 or a ZR1, we just don't know. But I know I sure would not put a lot of stock in what MT says.

I agree, GM has to release a high performance model or two if they want the automotive world to take them seriously. Nothing against the C7 as it sit right now at 450 hp and 450 ft lb of torque it will not be a car to be taking lightly.

I would love it if they kept the stock body and just added a 7.0L motor. They could call it the SS for all I care. Just give me more ponies.

t predict two years down the line. I also predict a ZO6 like addition to the line up, because of the aerodynamics the engine will need to sit low and behind the front wheels to get the handling and balance needed.

So it may need a new structure to build, if so I see it as a ZO6 not a ZR1 supercar

That's the way they used to sell them, just tick the option for the bigger motor and the suspension package.

why is everyone so into more power in their car? i really think the grand sport is a great car even if it only puts out 430 to 436 hp. don't get upset it's just my own opinion about this subject. i could see it if your running on the track, thats fine for the kind of power the big boy's put out. but, for the street, i don't get it. i see these morons doing donuts on public streets in their cars, it's crazy. you buy a beautiful car like the vette and your tearing it up like it's garbage. this car to me is to be enjoyed wherever i drive it. so many people are envious when they see a corvette because there are quite afew people that just can't afford it. to me there is no other car quite like the vette anywhere. my car puts a smile on my face whether i'm driving it or just sitting in my garage. i baby this car as if it's my last one. to me, 436 hp is fast enough. sure i get on it once in awhile, but not too crazy where i'm going to destroy this beautiful machine.

The key words are that it's just your opinion. I've had a 505 hp Z06 and I found plenty of places to run it through the gears - almost weekly.

Don't get me wrong, I love HP too and can't wait for the other models to come out but as is, the base (if we dare call such a complete car that) is a very competent super car already.

And yes a car like this needs to be babied and not abused. But going all out does not abuse the Corvette. It's engineered to handle it's performance potentials.

Well, keep in mind that GM hasn't released the certified numbers on the LT1 as of yet. We've seen some cad renderings of what is referred to as an LT4, supposedly a supercharged version of the LT1. Estimated power of that would be a complete mystery, maybe even to GM at this point.

Strong dislike. There is already too much going on for my liking and this just adds to it. It looks so busy and messy.

You must be an old fart? Just kidding.

Will be upgrading my Z06 to 550+ RWHP this spring. One can NEVER have enough HP.

GM is following their normal new vette introduction schedule with the C7. First we get the base/Z-51 coupe. Then the vert comes maybe 6/8 months later. Seems likely the new Z06( or whatever they call it) will come in 2015 or so & the ZR1 somewhat further down the road. As others have said, maybe an 8 spd auto and or a dual clutch are planned as well along the way. With the new technology, interior, exterior modern look, should be a total blast for us vette junkies.
Like others, I'll be happy enjoying my 2010 GS 6 spd manual coupe with LPE Maggie supercharger 650 package until just the right C7 combo of goodies comes available.
