I haven't been following the C7 forum but just looked quickly and couldn't find the answer. Why did GM decide to not show the C7 convertible in US and it being unveiled all over europe??? The corvette facebook page is showing pics of caravans of vettes following the truck with the vert and the unveils at the shows...
i understand wanting to get the buzz there to boost sales, but i assume the US is the bread and butter of their sales so i would have thought it would be done here first.... No biggie, just couldn't figure out why. Thanks!!

GM is looking to gain a larger piece of the pie in Europe going head to head with the competition. Hopefully they will be more successful than they have been in the past with Cadillac
I wonder if they have any plans to release a C7 for a test drive to Top Gear, that would surely provide some excitement in Europe ........ good/bad reviews from Jeremy & company should no make a difference as long as it keeps the "buzz" going
From my understanding, they did the same thing with the C6 Vert unveil. It was unveiled in Geneva first as well. I liken it to a wave. GM unveils the coupe here in the US and builds momentum which carries on across the pond and makes a big splash in Geneva with the Vert unveil.
It's not like American eyes aren't watching the European unveiling much the same way Europeans were watching the Coupe unveiling here in Detroit. GM makes a huge splash this year at two of the worlds largest international car shows and does it with two ground breaking reveals that have the eyes of the entire auto industry from sea to shining sea! Quite frankly, I couldn't imagine a better way for them to do it.
What others have said - Corvette has big plans to increase sales overseas.
It's no coincidence that the C7 redesign is more International in flavor. It's also no coincidence that Chevy is touting the C7 to European buyers as now having almost exactly the same exterior dimensions as a Porsche 911. That tells Euro buyer that the C7 will fit all the roads 911's can maneuver.
Global sales are an intricate part of GM's overall marketing plan and the new Corvette is their current darling . . . .

Top gear has a long history with the C6. They generally love the Corvette on the track, otherwise........not so much. Can't wait for the C7 test.
