Default Front Plate

I wish GM would have made the Corvette a bottom feeder with a built in area for the front plate. The C7 is just like the C6 and will look like bugs bunny with a front plate, due to the front grill opening.

If you have to have a front plate at least when GM designed the plate area into the car, like in the C4 and C5, it didn't look so bad. I hate the front plate law and know most people just don't put them on, but some don't want the ticket for not having it on. Seems like design factors should include the front, like the rear, that way it won't look so terrible.

Just say no to the front plate. The front plate law only applies if you get caught.

Saying no to the front plate, doesn't stop one from having to pay a ticket. I prefer to keep my money in my pocket.

What??? What GM came up with for a license plate on the C7 was nothing short of brilliant! It is leap years ahead of the C6. No holes needed and can be easily removed or not used at all for those who don't want it or don't need it. Bugs bunny or not, some states require it and not everybody should be penalized for what other states require. The C7 front plate was very well thought out in my opinion!

Here is the C6 factory front plate mount. Clearly an after thought.

In case you have not seen it, here is a video of how the front plate mount installs!

Totally agree. I think they did a great job dealing with the front plate issue.

BTW, 31 states plus D.C. require a front plate.

I'm sorry it still makes the front end look like bugs bunny, just like with the C6.

Yea, I see the resemblance!

Maybe they should have placed the plate holder in the windshield!

It isn't GM's fault that license plates in this country just look terrible. Front plates aren't nearly as bad with the elongated European plates

Front plates are required in New York also. Cops have seen me dozens of times without a front plate on my G8 GT and they just don't seem to care. They'll only pull you over if they are just out to break *****. Once I got pulled over for some "spirited driving" and the cop was going to nail me for the front plate also. I told him the bracket was back ordered and I'm waiting for it to come in. He didn't give me the ticket.

However, I think GM did a great job with this front plate bracket! I'll take one and mount my plate on it, but I don't want it installed, I just want it on me so If I know I'm gonna be in a sticky spot, I can just slap it on

Integrated front plates ruin the clean lines for people who don't run front plates.

GM's solution is much better than making all C7 fronts look like this:

I'll probably buy that plate bracket too, since I live in Cali, but I likely won't be using it. I've been without a front plate for all of my Corvettes. I've only recently gotten hassled once by a cop about it (although, I provoked the cop) and still didn't get a ticket for it. Generally they don't mess with Corvettes around here. I guess it'd be good to have sitting in the trunk just in case.

Your right for the car companies not to take this into considerations.
For buyers to act like there above everyone else because they
drive a corvette deserve a ticket. This would be a good area
for local and state law enforcement to nail a hefty fine.
This forum is the only place the whiners can come and get
sympathy

Eh... The front plate law was designed to make revenue. Not to make anything safer. And that law only went into affect when the traffic cameras were around. They're not enforced anymore. There's no reason at all for a front plate other than to hand out tickets and give cops a way to pull over suspicious looking vehicles. /Truth

I wouldn't fight a law that actually had something other than revenue generation as its sole purpose. While this law was around before traffic cameras, it wasn't at all enforced. Again, just a reason to pull people over for other things. NO laws are supposed to be passed with the purpose of generating income for any entity. Yet this one (and many others) exist. I'll continue to ignore them.

Front plate looks horrid on the C4-C6.
Blends in a little better on the 7.

It you are in Texas Please write to the commitee before next week.

Texas Single License Plate Bill Introduced in Texas Legislature to be Considered on Tues., March 12
Legislation (H.B. 657) to require the issuance of a single motor vehicle license plate for attachment at the rear of the vehicle will be considered by the Texas House Transportation Committee on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. The bill, favored by state hobbyists, would apply to passenger cars and light trucks.

We Urge You to Contact Members of the House Transportation Committee (Contact Info Below) Immediately to Request Support for H.B. 657

H.B. 657 would apply to all passenger cars used to accommodate 10 or fewer passengers and light trucks, including pickup trucks, panel delivery trucks, or carryall trucks that have a manufacturer's rated carrying capacity of 2,000 pounds or less.

H.B. 657 would protect the aesthetic contours of collector cars and relieve vehicle owners of the burden of having to create mounting holes on fabricated bumpers, etc.

H.B. 657 would save money, conserve resources and bring Texas in line with other states that have moved to a single plate requirement.
DON’T DELAY! If you haven’t done so already, please contact members of the Texas House Transportation Committee immediately by phone or e-mail to request their support for H.B. 657.

Please e-mail a copy of your letter to Steve McDonald at stevem@sema.org. Also, please forward this Alert to your fellow car enthusiasts. Urge them to join the SAN and help defend the hobby! Thank you for your assistance.

I have the low mount Top Flight plate bracket on my '10 GS. Tolerable. GM did a nice job with the front plate mounting bracket on the C7.

The C7 front plate mouting is removable for track use, too, for better engine cooling air flow.

With the plate in place, it actually improves the overall drag of the car.
