I got reliable information from a guy that knows a guy whose sister used to date the son of a retired janitor at a GM plant that they are going to bring back the Fiero and bring back the Iron Duke engine and call the car the Corvette II

Rumor is the ATS-V will end up with the TT 3.6L, but the other option would be the N/A LT1.
It is also very likely that the DOHC twin turbo V6 is neither cheaper nor lighter than the LT1, and as such doesn't really lend itself to a low cost (and suggested lighter) Corvette. Plus I am not sure it would even fit under the C7 hood.
