I really want a new C7 (black, loaded, all the whistles) ...

But I really do not want to part with my cherished 2012 C6...

I absolutely cannot afford to keep both...

But I really want the new C7..

I know this is

What to do.....

Why keep the C6? You do realize it's obsolete now, don't you? Anyways, you could always sell a kidney.

You went there!!!

If I were you, I'd keep your C6 for a while and enjoy it if it's a 2012. It's still brand new. Save up for a C7 and in a few years, you'll be able to get a deal on one, instead of being lucky if you pay sticker...

I say wait at least a year and enjoy what you have. The first year will have teething problems. GM is not known for flawless first year launches. Things should be stable in the second and third year of production.

Enjoy your new car you have now and let them work out any bugs or problems that may come up with the first year car. The longer you wait the better deal you may get on a C7.

I agree that you should wait. Wait for the hype to die down then get one for most likely a less. And after the bugs are all out.

Let the "I gotta be first" types run up some miles. And, do the real world testing. The C7 will have some first year issues. Keep/enjoy your C6 for a few years. GM will improve the C7 as the generation advances.

Default Keep your 2012 C6 for two more years

Silverblue:
You have a great car now. The C7 is better but not that much better that you take a loss just to get the C7. I have bought a C5 & C6 in the second year of production and both times looking back I regretted not waiting until the 3rd year. In both cases some major improvements were made in the 3rd year model. I just bought a 427. I will keep it for life. I will get a C7 in the 3rd or 4th year model. Your Corvette is still so new, enjoy the car, and wait for the better timing to buy the C7. By waiting the bugs/problems will be worked out. The updates and improvements will be added and the price will be more negotiable because the model will not be so new by then. Lastly the tuners will have everything scoped out by then and you will have more options to enhance your car then.
Remember your glass is "Half Full" you have a 2012 C6 that rocks. Enjoy it and then step up again when you have more buying power. It always pays to be wiser.

Test drive the C7 when you can get your hands on one, and see for yourself how it compares to you 2012. If it's that much better, your 2012 my no longer be that "cherished". If you're not blown away, wait.

I'm a big fan of enjoying the one you own.....and when the time is right buy another.

Don't get to wrapped up in the hype.....your present corvette is far from obsolete and don't get me wrong I dig the c7...

Still if you get wrapped up in owning the latest and greatest you ll continually burn through cash.

Planning for the future can be fun to and that makes the rewards that much sweeter ..

I haven't been on CF long but I have never seen 8 posts in a row that were positive and agreed with each other. I'd say that probably means something. Personally I would try to offload the c6 as it will devalue progressively until the magazines get to torture the c7 then it will drop precipitously. The only thing that will keep c6 dealer inventory dust free is the c7's flyin off the lot. But seriously, those other guys are right. (9 in a row!)

Keep the C6 for a couple years. Then all the bugs will be worked out and prices will be down. No hurry.😊

This is an easy one, keep the C6 at least until the C7 is out for 12-18 months. First of all no one knows anything about the C7's reliability and what quirks it may have early on. Secondly if you trade a 2012 C6 this soon you will take a pretty good hit, you may as well enjoy it for a while.

My first Corvette was a well used 1975 with the factory 165hp engine.
But, it was my first one !!!

two years later - GM introduced the 1980. I liked it... but thought I loved my 1975 better. Then, one day with nothing to do, I drove to the dealership and looked at their new 1980 models; test drove one.

Dang; that's all it took.
came home with this:

gawd; I loved that car !!!

The C3 era was ending; and GM came out with the 1982 Corvette Collectors Edition. I really liked it, but was too expensive. Late in the model year - a low mileage used 82 CE was available.
came home with this:

gawd; I loved that car !!!

then GM introduced the C4. This time I stayed away from Chevrolet dealerships; though read a lot about the 1984 C4. About 6 months later I was driving by a dealership and noticed a sign introducing the new 1985 models. Got curious; looked at the 1985 Corvettes - learned from the salesdriod about the changes made from the 1984 model... test drove a 1985... came home with this:

gawd; I loved that car !!!

and it goes on & on.

Every Corvette I've owned - I thought was my last.

Wait till C7 Z06 comes out and then move up. Right now, it's not much of an upgrade and you loose a lot.
