Default new Z28 to have naturally aspirated engine with 500HP, shouldn't the vette have more

shouldn't the Vette have more?

I'm surprised GM is allowing 2 Camaros to have more HP than the base Stingray. Maybe the base Stingray will be bumped above 500hp?

what do you think?

Why would you think the base C7 should have more hp than a purpose-built Camaro track car?

Meh ........ Not a big issue for most. If you need or want hp bragging rights then may be you ought to consider buying something other than a Corvette.

Good news: the LS7 remains in production!

So, how long before someone drops an LS7 engine into a C7?

Even better, how long before GM offers the LS7 as an option in the C7? Say, in a Z06 model C7?

Why would anyone spend $10k - $15k to put an LS7 in a C7 when the LT1 is likely to have similar power figures (within 15-20 hp)?

yes it should, but you will have to get the "gold package" for an extra 20,000, for that.
gm marketing, the crap never changes.

paying extra for the performance package on a high performance car...... duh,

If they put the LS7 in the Vette it would be way north of 550 hp....not 15-20 more than the LT1. More like a 100 more.

I have a good feeling that if you take the Z51 C7 and the new Z28 Camaro to say Laguna Sega the 450 HP Corvette will out perform the Z28.

It's because the new z06 will have more. Probably closer to 600.

That Z28 is 3 seconds/lap quicker than the ZL1.But you shouldn't be comparing a track ready car such as the Z28 to the C7 Vette..

Don't care what the Camaro has or doesn't have. In fact could care less about any other Domestic car with the exception of maybe Cadillac's new CTS and the upcoming rumored flagship.

Not that they're bad cars. In fact I'm proud to see the domestics making leaps & bounds progress, but the only premium domestic brands are Corvette, Cadillac and Viper and only the Corvette interests me.

The Z/28 will weigh 3700lbs and the aerodynamics of a brick.

It'll be a helluva a Camaro. And they'll sell a zillion of them. But it won't be a Vette.

Was talking about someone dropping in an LS7 not GM offering it as an option.

Don't think you would see a mass produced ~600 HP N/A motor from GM. GM is going FI for the high performance model.

Both of the higher HP Camaros were the highest ended Camaros made. Trust me (and GM), the Vette Z06 and ZR1 will have tons more HP the highest HP Vette.

I'd take a 3700lb z28 with 500+ hp over a 3500lb 450+hp c7. Especially since its a purpose built track car.

Go back to the very first Camaro. It had an optional engine with 375 HP(the EXACT engine option that was rated at 425 HP in the 1965 Corvette Sting Ray). The base 1967 Corvette String Ray only had 300 HP.

Classic example of a Camaro had an optional engine that had more horsepower then the base Corvette of the same model year. Oh, and the 1967 Camaro was not a heavy pig either.

Going back even futher in time, the optional engine in the full size 1957 Chevrolet sedan had 283 HP. The 1957 base Corvette had 220 HP. Yes, you could purchase a 4 door station wagon with more horsepower then the base 1957 Corvette from Chevrolet.

I think there will be 2 Hipo versions, 1 FI and one N/A around 550-570hp. At least im praying!

Nobody said that, and if that was true it would be a one years thin( to get rid if the rest of the remaining Ls7's.
The only late model carry over was in the 84 cross fire and stab was only because the L98 wasn't ready.
The LS7 made good power but was the most unreliable motor put in a late model vette, I'm glad to see it gone, to replaced with something that isn't going to blow up.
