Helen Emsley, "She admits she was worried the headline would be "British woman kills Corvette,""

If you hate the C7 interior, now you have someone to blame.

http://autos.aol.com/article/chevy-corvette-designer/

And if you still think auto designs happen quickly, Helen's asked, "When did you take over designing the interior of the 2014 Corvette Stingray?" "Five years ago..."

That means the C8 team will begin work soon.

Kind friends, please take pity on me if this is a dupe.

Cheers,
JB

I love the interior. Of course the C8 will start to be worked on soon, but probably a year or two away. First would come the HP mods whether ZR1 or a Z06. They said they started work around 2007 for the C7. Remember, the C7 is still being tested on mules and not even in production yet. The C8 for release won't come until 2021 at the earliest IMO anyway.

Thank goodness for Helen! She designed a fabulous interior and one that has been needed for some time.

It's not a dupe as far as I know. And a long time ago I used to know a person whose sole job was to pick interior colors. He said it took a minimum of three years to get the colors right. And even then, it was a best guesstimate that by the the time the colors came out they would still be desirable. Three years? And this one took five to design--I'm not surprised. Talk about long-lead items....wow---even with CAD.

The pictures I've seen of the interior look nice.

But since I've never sat in one, handled the controls, navigated the ergonomics, or even felt the materials, how can I say anything more than "it looks nice?"

Agreed. We see the interior styling. Our perception of quality is influenced by what we see, but it will ultimately be judged by people in three ways;
  1. By touch - how does something feel, how crisp are the *****, switches and buttons, how solid are the handles, etc.
  2. By sound - does it squeak, rattle, or buzz.
  3. And, how well the surfaces age; are they durable, easily scratched or stained, do they fade quickly in the sun, etc.

Absolutely. The new C7 may be, and I hope it is, the best Corvette ever manufactured. At the point we're at now however, all we have to go by are some pre-production models and a lot of pictures.

I'll be anxious to actually get in, and drive, a production C7 when they are finally available. Until then, everything is mere conjecture. I'll wait and see if GM can successfully carry through on all the promises made for this new car.

The English have always done the best interiors. Aston Martin, Rolls, Bentley. Their all incredible. I've been to Gaydon (Aston Martin Factory) and they do amazing work. I think Helen is probably the best addition to the Corvette team in a long while. You can see her influence in the Blue vert at New York. Just beautiful !!!!!!
