Default C7 Order Timing Question

If I order now I won't get the car until next Fall, and since I live in MN I don't really want to buy and put it straight into storage for 6 months. I would ideally like to take delivery in April/May of 2014.

So I have a couple questions for forum members or hopefully dealers:

1) When will they start taking orders for the 2015 model year and should I wait for that vs ordering a 2014? Will I be in the same boat if I wait to order a 2015 next Spring (Fall delivery)?

2) If I wait until say Dec 2013 or Jan 2014 to place my order, will my chances of getting one have gone way down? (allocations for 2014 all gone)

I'm looking at a Z51 coupe without the comp seats, so it appears production delays won't be an issue.

Any help is appreciated.

Tough call. My Corvette consultant, Mike Furman Crisswell Chev 888-737-3537, advised me to get the car and not to fool around with all the possible outcomes like no allocations left.
I think I will see the car in October and put it away in Nov.
A bird in the hand etc.
It is still your call.

I believe if you wait to order Dec 13/Jan14 you could get car for your spring!!

Deal with forum dealer, like tommy Jr @ MacMulkin Chevy he has plenty of allocations! Give him a call, he'll let ya know!

For all your New and Pre-Owned Corvette Needs, Just give Tommy Jr a call at (603) 821-9993 or email him at tommyjr@thompsonauto.net

My guess is that by Jan/Feb of 14 the allocations will be over and you could order a 14. The dealers do not know at this point what will be available. I would say if you can wait for an April/May 14 delivery, waiting for a 15 delivery in Aug/Sept of 14 is a good move. Whatever you choose, enjoy it and do not second guess yourself.

Evil- I'm kind of in the same situation. I have a deposit with a dealer in MN who will be getting 10 coupes and 3 converts and am on the top of the list. Even with that scenario I'm guessing Sept./Oct. for delivery and then depending on how long our Fall weather cooperates it might go right into storage, or shortly after delivery at best. I will avoid any anticipated mid-year price increase and have the satisfaction of the car in the garage, but also agree it's a tough call to voluntarily put my name further down the list to get a March/April '14 delivery. I too will be getting a Z51 w/o competition seats so no delay anticipated unless certain colors or wheel options end up with constraints.

If the C7 build schedule follows past history, they will make the change over from the 2014 model year to the 2015 model year in June, 2014. If your 2015 is one of the very first builds you may be able to get it in early July, but most likely it will arrive at your dealer in late July. My 2009 Z06 was built in June, 2008 but didn't arrive at my dealer until July 25, 2008.

If you want to have the entire summer to drive your new C7, then you need to order around January-February, 2014 for delivery in March-April and settle for a 2014, not a 2015.

But that is pure speculation as no one, at this point, knows how well the C7 will sell, thus no one knows if the dealer's order books will be full or empty in March-April, 2014, which will influence when a C7 will be built.

You will be in the same boat if you wait for 2015. You will get it at the end of summer and have to pack her up.

The obvious answer is to move out of MN

I've done the Museum Delivery 4 times, and each time it was around 2 1/2 months. My 2012 was ordered 2/2 and I did the delivery 4/16, but I could have done it 4/9. The Museum will generally work with you on the date, but it's better to order earlier than later.
