Default Vert Discussion

Know most of you guys are C7 Coupe Lovers (no negatives intended) but boss lady gave me the go ahead for a vert (Criswell has deposit #16). Seems most threads are Coupe oriented - thought a discussion on verts might be in order. Allocations, production schedules, etc. Examples: when do verts go into production? Or how does vert allocations work - same as coupes? Color combos?

Here's my take; CR 2LT vert w/kalahari interior. Possibly Z51 option (depending on $ avaiable).

Production start - late Nov or early Dec.

Allocations work the same (initial convertible allocations have already been given to dealers at the same time thier initial coupe allocation was made).

I think the main reason that you aren't seeing much for convertibles is because they are a delayed launch. The convertibles won't become available until late fourth quarter 2013, early first quarter 2014. The coupe launch is underway and production is about to get started.

Most dealers that are on the launch list know what they will have available for allocations and some are taking deposits but your order won't get entered until the order system opens up for the model.

At least in pics. the C7 vert IMO looks to much like a C6 vert to interest me at this time .The coupe has a totally different look to the C6.

My one of my family members said he is seriously considering getting rid of his 427 'vert for a C7 Z51 when it gets to the lot. I was pretty surprised. He's normally a Porsche/Lambo guy but the 427 got him back in the fold after not owning a 'Vette since '95 or so.

#5 @ Criswell. CR 2LT for me as well. Haven't decided on interior color - most likely black.

I love the look of the coupe but will get a vert again. We enjoy taking a road trip w/ luggage and the top down. Don't think we could store a targa top as well when loaded down.
Wish there were more pics available with top up. I might just wait & get early 2015 as I'm going to do rc8 again & will need decent weather.

Decision still in progress. For now I'm thinking MRB, Black top, Kalahari interior. Z51

Great info. You know, us newbies are always johnny come latelies. This is my 1st one - can't wait. Info seems to answer lots of questions. Too bad GM can't walk and chew gum at the same time. Any way looks like mine will be in time for Floriida sunshine. Yeah, pretty solid on CR/Kalahari combo.

After two false starts and two salespeople not calling me back, I called the Salesman of the Year at my dealership and got an immediate response. He told me they are being allocated 30 coupes and 10 verts, mainly because they sold 14 ZR1s last year. I'm #2 on the vert allocation (I'm behind somebody who works at Hendrick corporate office so I'm told). I'm ordering a Velocity Yellow vert, Z51 with either black or chrome wheels and yellow calipers.

He said he won't need a deposit from me until October.

Too bad first two salespeople, no contact will cost you a sale. Or two. Or twenty.

Deposit in place for my vert - number one on dealer list, with this configuration, Z51, black, Kalahari/suede, NPP, A6, magnetic ride control, unsure of wheels, leaning to standard Z51 silver this time.
Having the car delivered in April [live in Minnesota] is my goal,
but if it stretches to July, may get a 2015 instead.

I'm not in the market for a C7 right now but if I were it would definitely be a convertible. Congrats to all who will be ordering one.
