Default Fuel Door

While I really like the C7 design and can not find anything wrong, I think the fuel door should have been some sorta angular design like the rest of the car.

What do you think?

Let me say that the round design fuel door on C7 makes sense because its easier to center the fuel nozzle. C2 and C3 Vettes had round fuel door, very sporty too. C5 fuel door was also round matching the tail lights. On C6 fuel door changed to angular design very much matching the opening on the door latch. Now on C7, the door latch shrunk, but so many straight body lines were introduced... I am still trying to see the fit.

They are getting ready for the EV version that needs the round plug.

You know the reasoning - the C7 is all about performance - and it's fairly common knowledge that round fuel doors are good for a 1.12 HP gain over angular ones . . . . .

I think it being round might have something to do with the capless filler, but looking at it further, I think any shape other that round might visually conflict with the shape of the quarter window. Round is fairly neutral.

Also round design is better for draining water out after wash.

I like the C6 shape better, but it is not a big deal for me.

Good eye! Hadn't noticed before now. True, the round shape doesn't seem to flow. As mentioned above, not a problem for me.

You are seriously over-thinking this design issue.

Default out of shape

Racing fuel fillers are round so maybe it is homage to the C6R. Round or not, I hope the button latch is re-engineered. A can of WD40 later, our C6 still sticks. We have to use the emergency pull in the trunk to get it to deploy so the fuel door will latch. Pain in the patoot.

All cars look better if the fuel fill is in the back of the car.

I'm sure it's because of gov & rear safety issues. But it just
looks odd to me when one side of the car is different from the other.
