Default Tag Blues

Dropped into my local tag office this morning to see if I could reserve a prestige tag prior to delivery. Was pretty sure I couldn't but .... They confirmed, MSO or title to process is required to order even a prestige tag. They suggested ordering the tag for my current car. It already has one and I'm keeping the car. But I've got a dandy in my mind if I can just get it before someone else does. Don't ask, keeping it to myself till then . Placed my Z51 order yesterday.

Default Try this:

Look in the paper and get the cheapest beater you can find.
Go to the local dismantle yard and talk to the manager. Tell him you need a "car" for the title, but you will "sell" it back after you get the C7. Got a buddy who is building a project car? Do that with him. What you are trying to do is get a title for anything in your hands. Take it to the DMV and get your plates. When the Corvette come in, transfer the plates to it.
Now you have a ? on your hands. If it came from the junk yard, "sell" it back. If it was your buddies project, transfer it back. If you actually bought something, you could either keep it or sell it or donate to charity. A thought: Donate to the local fire department. They can use it to practice rescue techniques. They will use the "Jaws" to cut the top off. hey then might use I to simulate a vehicle fire. They then will dispose of it, and you get to write it off your tax.
Don't do anything illegal, but this will get your tags until you get your car.

LOL, I should have my car by sometime in November so I'll take my chances. I can make up another one if someone else hits the lotto tag or move my Retired Navy tag over. Lots of options but like the one I thought up this morning

I thought of this one CSE7EN a while back and it still would be my choice if I were so inclined to buy a C7

It'll probably be gone anyway so .......

I was thinking of "Jim's C7" but I'm not sure they'll allow punctuation anyway.

That's crazy - In Texas you can. Just move down here; no state income tax either. I already have one reserved for my C7, and it will look as follows:
