To the forum members who have seen the C7 in person, was there any C7 with the transparent top?
If so, was the top all black or were the sides painted same body color as the car?
I'm asking because of all the pictures and video's we've seen, there were a few C7 that the top was all black.
It makes me wonder if those were the transparent tops?
I hope GM will not sell them like that. I hope they will paint the transparent top sides to match the body color, when the production starts

I think that crazy that GM will not paint the sides. It might turn off some potential buyers from ordering the transparent top option.

I agree,they are probably thinking that there would be no light shinning thru those areas . I remember, from when I was at the factory tour the glass roof comes from outside supplier with all hardware attached and either goes straight on the cars or in hatch area if it is a 2 top option car.

What looks perfectly fine with a targa hoop looks completely unfinished given the C7 roof design. I was very surprised that this got past the design team.
I predict this easy change will be one of the first made by GM to the C7.

Elsewhere I mentioned that I will probably paint the sides on my C7 transparent top TorchRed to match the body (just like the visible carbon fiber tops). It should be pretty easy to do. But I will wait and see whether I like it better with or without the red 'runners.' If you look at the Ferrari LaFerrari in red, you will see that they leave their top totally black and it looks pretty darn good IMHO.

I get your point that YOU will paint yours, but at $995, i think it should come already painted. That's like paying $995, then having it to bring it to a bodyshop and pay extra $$$$ that they will charge you to match the exterior.

The sides of the c6 transparent top do not allow light in where the painted spears go. That section of the roof under the transparent top is the frame of the top.
Painting is a great idea and should be an option if not standard.
The vendor who offers a peel and stick properly coded painted decal will sell them well.
