I asked my dealer this question because the local dealer isn't one of the 900. He said that if the local dealer can't fix the problem, they will either send a tech or flatbed the car to a dealer who can.
Will all Chevy dealers service the car or just the 900?
All Chevy dealers will say they can service it but that is just a leap of faith. Before you go for your first service visit ask your dealer if he has pucks for raising the car. If they look at you like this is a hockey question I would suggest you get your service somewhere else. This forum is filled with stories of otherwise competent dealers that have cracked the rocker panels of cars because they did not know how to lift them. Many engines have also been replaced because of problems with oil changes and not knowing the proper procedure with dry sumps. Use the search feature and learn more about how some dealers are clueless about servicing these cars.
Dealers have to send their service techs to a special Corvette training program at $2500 per mechanic. If you don't have trained personnel you can not sell the C7
They can handle a volt they can handle a c7. And this is not that unique of an engine for GM.
While possibly questionable at times, it isn't the mechanical skills that most of us fear. It's the damage they do to the vehicle - usually due to lack of care or common sense. Cracked rockers is a classic. Other issues like body damage, interior damage, and the occasional "joy ride" are just bonus damage. I agree - I'd rather pay and fix something myself than put my car in harm's way at the dealership.
Mehhh...i'm willin to gamble...my car will be stock for about a week anyway...my warranty will be void anyway...i just wish I could get 2500.00 discount for waiving it...lol. No luck there though. I had cars with warranties...I did the work myself. If its just a beater so be it, but with a vette, I dont want those dealer morons hands all over my car, driving my sh*t around...not a chance.
