In the C6 NPP opened the valves only above 3500RPM (if memory serves me). Is this the same on the C7? Also do any of the available modes allow the values to remain open at all times (as we were able to do with mild-to-wild)? Thanks!
From the videos, it appears that the "sport" mode opens the valves 100% of the time.
I could be wrong, but I think the track mode does.

There's not going to be any drone if you have it in the Tour mode, although I don't know why anyone would want to have a Corvette that sounds like a Buick or Cadillac. This thing should be in Sport mode 100% of the time as far as I'm concerned.
LOL I agree!!! I put my money where my mouth was.....my C6 went straight to the Vette doctor...LG 1.3/4 headers, Corsa sports and tuned....she was orchestral 100% of the time.
Another reason I have to see and test drive before I order. From to Z51, magnetic ride, exhaust and color. The only thing I currently have finalized is a black convertible top and 2LT black interior. I'm thinking 2015, going to take a year to make decision. Maybe they bring back Victory Red.
Loud all the time means you're a d!ck when you pull into your neighborhood at 2 AM.
It's also obnoxious. Some people may like the sound, but to me it's just a cry for attention.
I pretty much agree with this. Also, in recent years, exhaust systems have gotten more efficient and there seems to be less to gain with aftermarket systems, especially with regard to catbacks.

At Bowling Green I was told the pipes are open full time in track mode. Earlier posts here seem to say that we can select that and keep it in other modes if we choose to (?)
Am I reading this correctly.....The non NPP exhaust has selectable modes for loudness also?
Jimmy
That would be correct. The car will have 5 modes (Weather, Tour, Eco, Sport and Track). Each mode will change the way the exhaust note will sounds regardless if you have NPP or not. There will also be custom modes that will allow you to set the car up the way you want. For example if you want Sport's dash display, touring's HUD and Track exhaust.

No that is not correct. The base exhaust does have valves - but they are further up in the exhaust (by the Catalytic converters I think) and active only to suppress drone when operating in 4cyl mode.

Please watch this video starting at 45 min mark, Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter talks about how the Drive Selector impacts the exhaust note. The cars that dont have NPP will still get the selector, so regardless if the valves are further up or not, the exhaust will sound different when switching from say...ECO to Track. The only difference is the NPP is going to make the car louder in certain modes (and of course the 5 extra HP)

There is another video on YouTube that shows this in action but I cant find it.
The comment I was responding to was specifically about "loudness". I agree with you the mode selector will activate the AFM baffles depending on the mode selected and the transmission in the car. I have not heard or seen anything that says those baffles change how LOUD the exhaust sound is, and Tadge's comments aren't specific enough. They certainly will make it DIFFERENT (i.e. not like a 4 banger), otherwise they would be superfluous.
as it gets toward the end of the video it sounds like he changes the mode as it starts quite then really rapps out the notes in 1st gear.

I saw a C7 today in person for first time at Pittsburgh Vintage GP show! I love it and so surprised to see it there. So the Chevy guy was in the car idling and I asked him to change the drive select to different modes. The flaps are open in sport and closed in tour at idle. He would not give it any throttle but just want to confirm you don't need the mild to wild switch!
Is the 1st valve, just before the exhaust enters the muffler, a restrictor valve? Even that doesn't make sense. It almost looks like a heat riser valve on my C3
Looks like there is another valve at the muffler outlet. Does that shut off one of the tailpipes.
Anyone know how these things work on the z51 and base?
