On a base model C7 (non-Z51) Does the DMS do anything in regards to handling or ride? Or is it just to change the pretty pictures on the HUD?
No don't rag on me just to go to the Z51, I understand that option and what goes on with the DMS in the Z51 especially with when equipped with the MSRC.
It does not in so much as "ride" as those parameters are tied directly to the magnetic ride system. It does affect handling as it changes calibrations and latitude for the active handling and stabilitrac system and changes the power steering. It also affects engine and drivetrain calibrations, IP information and gauge layout (when set to "Link to Driver Mode"). It does far more than "change the pretty pictures on the HUD. To say any less would be doing the systems and those that developed them a great injustice.
So, unlike the 97 C5 which had a "Selective Real Time Dampening" option, the base C7 does not incorporate any technology to adjust the suspension dampening thru the DMS?
Guess one has to go the Z51 to get that in the form of the MSRC.

Hardly. All I'm trying to understand is what those systems do or not do to help make an informed decision prior to placing an order.

No. You either get MSRC or you get standard fixed shocks.
