Default C7 Nomenclature and Tech Data

Looking to start detailing the cars' various alphanumerics for its collective parts. I.e., the C6 debuted with a T56, which gave way in '08 to a TR6060. The heads went from 243's to L92's if I'm not mistaken- unless L92 refers to the whole top end (?). Et cetera.

So do we know the nomenclature for the new 7 speed, or the new DI heads, or for any of the particular hard parts as such? Do we have gear ratios and/or spline counts for the new mainshafts? Are Z51 and base differential or transmission gears different ratios? Do we have wheel offsets yet? Etc, etc.

I'd like to begin itemizing stuff we find here for reference if anybody has anything.

Paging Talon (Paul)!

Trans is TR6070.

Same ratios as C6 TR6060 with added 7th OD; .42 standard/ .48 Z51.

Haven't seen anything tech like shaft size/splines yet. Some implications they are same as C6 Z06 but can't verify.

Wheel offsets said to be same as C6 but haven't seen anything concrete. This is all I have on that:

Thanks! That's good data.... I find the fact there are now three rear Ring and Pinion sets quite interesting. So the A6 Z51 guys have two swap options now... up for more low end snappiness (to a 3.42), or even down from a 2.73 to a 2.56 should they install a blower and want a bit more traction for their big torque curve.

Other swap options there too, and from manuals to autos and etc (given proper BCM/etc programming and matching tailhousings for the respective cases) to suit your particular engine combo or tire size if you're drag racing.

Sweet.

Now, onto where we can start shaving....

Areas of Mass Addition
35.2 pounds — direct injection, VVT, AFM (Some of that must stay, like the DI setup, but the current L99 cars have seen VVT/AFM deleted... wonder what the savings is there? Maybe we can shave 10lbs?)
6.6 pounds — standard engine oil cooler
13.2 pounds — dual mass clutch (Aftermarket clutch/aluminum flywheel could shave +/- 20lbs)
15.4 pounds — steel torque tube part of AFM
5.5 pounds — AFM exhaust valves
11 pounds — 7th transmission speed
18.5 pounds — strengthened differential, half shafts
18.3 pounds — larger fixed brakes (2 piece rotors here could save 5lbs per corner, 20lbs total)
17 pounds — new interior appointments and safety features
17.2 pounds — upgraded seats (I'm assuming the Competition seats would be at least 10 or 15 pounds lighter per seat? 20-30 saved perhaps?)
18.5 pounds — structural safety requirements
31.5 pounds — new infotainment and cabin technology, as well as relocating battery to the rear (If so inclined, this could nearly all be deleted, and a 12-15lb Braille battery added for a total savings of probably 50+lbs)
3 pounds — bigger fuel tank

That’s a total weight gain of 210 pounds, or 95 kg (Could realistically remove nearly 100lbs of that).

Nah you'll be too busy having fun in an already 200lb lighter C6Z...

BTW I tried one of Braille batteries and unless you drive the car daily or every other day, they need a trickle charger and don't hold their charge well over a week or two of not driving.

Haha, now what makes you think that?

There will definitely be a C7 in my future. I can't say when... as you're right, I'll be immensely enjoying a certain silver C6Z. Still, when it comes time, I'd like to have my gameplan laid out and full situational awareness as far as my options. I know the Braille batteries are a chore. The C6's already are extremely battery/voltage sensitive. We don't know how the C7's designed yet, though. Perhaps GM has figured out how to make a battery last like any other car's.

Plus, this is something else to focus on while I avoid going stir-crazy waiting to fly to Texas.
