Goodbye C6
Ever since I bought my first C6 from Kerbeck back in February of 2005 I've just about daily checked out their website just to see the advertised discounts and to check out their inventory. A couple months ago I watched two 60th anniversary Grand Sport coupes slowly get sold for like a 13,000 dollar discount. Very tempting for me, but I sure do love the C7. I remember back in 2005 I purchased mine for a 2,500 dollar discount and that's when the local dealers here in Maryland were adding 10,000 dollars to the sticker. C7 buyers be ware, the forum dealers are the only place to buy. Now what to do with my 25,000 mile 2009 Cyber Grey coupe? Well it's never going to be worth more than it is today and after the C7's hit the road probably a faster depreciation.
I really envy you early adopters for ordering your C7's, I only hope you have half as much fun with your new Corvettes as I did back in 2005. It's fun reading this C7 section and hearing what the lovers and haters have to say. I surely remember the C5 guys who hated the fact that the C6 didn't have pop-up headlamps. Sounds a lot like the tail light haters of today. Oh well, they couldn't possibly please everyone, but they sure have pleased me. Maybe some day--enjoy CE
Nice post, Crazyedie. They all end up depreciating unless you shell out mega bucks for the exclusives (think Pratt Miller C6RS) and then never ever drive them. No fun in that. C6 is sharp now and still will be for years to come. Your selection is just as good as someone plunking down money for a new C7 because it's what you want. Top comes off, two seats, V8 and a long hood. That's pretty much Corvette no matter which one you own.
I miss the flip up lights but they never have a place on the car again in the name of efficiency. I did not care for the C6 front end upon unveiling, but after.....oh...a half a day, I see why it had to be done to be taken seriously on the world stage further. The rear of C7 sparked a slight "hmm..." out of me during unveiling but the spinning platform didn't give me time to really take it in. Love it now that I have had time to see it and glad the car is pursuing a different direction like the front end restyle of the C6 before.
Just for giggles, maybe in the future if they pioneer some "skin" technology like a particular BMW prototype car and make flush "eyelids" which hide the lights and open up to reveal the lights. Not holding my breath on that one.
Thanks OP. i agree. Huge discounts on C6s sure is tempting, but especially in light of the recent media reviews, I think i will have to wait a bit longer to see more C7s in person and to get some seat time to choose the right colors and options.
The c6 is still an awesome corvette....and I agree the c7 is a hell of a new generation...
Can't wait for the production models to hit the driveways of so many members here....
The reviews released last week seem impressive...
I always still admire the c5 (8 year run)styling. And the c6 is nice too (9 years it must have been sharp but it is a long time)....while the new c7 is really a grand slam stunning beauty)

Did the same like you (Crazyeddie). Bought my 05 from Kerbeck in Nov of 2004. Because I ordered it, I paid MSRP. Had I taken one off the showroom floor I would have gotten the $2500 discount.
It certainly was nice cruising around in that Mag Red Coupe.
I bought my 2012 GS at a $12000 discount. This way I assured myself I wouldn't pay MSRP again.

I'll be ready in 2016.
Our local dealership had a beautiful 2013 427 convertible in the showroom for a month or so in the May time frame at $93K. I thought it was hugely overpriced at the time, but it sold at or near MSRP.
I'm sure everyone would agree that buying a new car at MSRP will cost you 20-30 percent in a year's ownership. Since I could never afford a new Vette, used "depreciated" Vettes seem a much better buy. Non-Corvette people really don't care what year the car is...it's exotic to them and beautiful. I love the adoration my 06 gets today and I'm not worried about owning a second hand 28K mile has been...lol. I love my car.
How do you guys think the higher optioned corvettes will fare discount-wise when then C7 is available?
I saw a 427 at a nearby dealership a couple weeks ago. Impressive car in person btw. Car was 90k+ and marked down to $80k+. The question I have is will these cars be seriously discounted in the near future? I was thinking if I could pick a 427 up around 60k it would be a fun car. Perhaps wishful thinking?
Then I had the thought I could theoretically get/order a (somewhat of a stripper) '14 Z51 convertible with nav for less than $60k. Seems like dealers would have to seriously discount these higher end C6s as the average guy like me would rationalize a low option C7 over even a heavily optioned 427 C6.
