Bottom line is you make the deal you can make with the dealer. If your negotiating skills warrant you the ability to walk out without a dealer fee, etc. - good for you. Nobody's forcing anyone to buy a car with fees they don't like. It's up to the individual.
I've never worked at a dealership, sold cars for a living, or in any way associated with Stingray Chevy - however, I do live in Tampa and they've got a pretty solid reputation as far as local dealerships go. I certainly plan on visiting them to price my Stingray.

Car buying is among the most uncomfortable experiences for most people. I appreciate upfront pricing, no hidden fees and straight-forward answers. When I'm ready to purchase my C7 (2LT Z51, NPP NAV) next spring, the first sign of double-talk and I'm walking out the door. There's about $8K in profit already built into MSRP. I'm not paying a red penny more.

Sell more than that is not the same thing as having allotment for that many. STingray might sell more than that too, it just means that some won't be getting a 2014...
And recognize that most dealers have a doc fee on ALL sales, they don't just roll it out because they see your CF sticker on the windshield. It is a fact of life that most dealers try to collect a doc fee or admin fee on every sale, and if $399 burns you on a $60,000 C7, imagine what it does to the $15000 Cruze buyer! Most dealers don't mention it because it is assumed that every educated buyer knows to expect it, if not to pay it. Spare us the "outrage" at dealers, it is a business and they are just as entitled to try to make more than invoice, just like you are entitled to try to pay less.
Don't make the comparisions to Home Depot, restaurants, etc either. Unless you walk in, pick up the menu and start to negotiate on the price listed, it is not the same thing...

I have never gotten away from the dealer fee in Florida . I have bought quite a few cars . In march I bought a used 2011 vette for a very good price with a great price for my trade . The dealer was very good IMO but I still paid a $599 dealer fee . I can never get away from this fee . The dealers are gonna make their money . They will get the fee up front or just fudge the numbers and you get less for your trade or you pay more for the new car you are purchasing . I don't get upset with it anymore . I just work the best deal possible and move on .

I wasn't questioning you, I was questioning the lack of Corvette knowledge from the dealer. If they sell the car, they should know that the 427 Vert is NOT a 2014.

I would have totally ignored that reply as it is BS, and the dealer knows it. They want to keep 2013's on the lot? Riiiiiight.
...or If I was in a jaunty mood, I may have responded with: "Really?, is that how you guys make money now, but keeping cars ON the lot?"
A BS response like that is PROOF they have ABSOLUTELY NO bargaining power on the 2013s.
My reply would have been essentially the following, but prettied up a bit so as not to sound to harsh: "Here's my offer on the LEFTOVER 2013. This is my best offer, take it or leave it." Then if they don't accept it, walk out the door.
"LEFTOVER" - dealers hate that word. It means YOU KNOW they have little to no bargaining power.

I purchased a new 2008 Z06 from Stingray Chevrolet with no dealer fee and $7,000 off MSRP.
They had a $99 dealer fee and just recently, were pressured into raising their fee as most of the Florida dealers do so.
They are into cars, all cars. Check out Steve Hurleys' 1969 396/375 HP Camaro. Stunning.
If you are not satisfied with "a deal being offered" I suggest you ask to talk to Steve Hurley (owner) personally. He is one of the few involved owners and makes himself available to all. You may have to wait a day or two but it will be worth it.
There's no finer gentleman, as far as I'm concerned.
BTW...my daughter just paid $899 dealer fee at NAPELTON Dodge............I about killed her when she told me that. Just HAD to have that R/T Charger!!
My wife just purchased a 2013 Turbo VW Convert. Khun VW in Tampa, wanted a $699 dealer fee.
Once numbers were almost finalized, I told them I wanted an ADDITIONAL $699 on her trade in. They agreed but still charged a $699 dealer fee. A wash.
They also sold the vehicle to her(which stickered at $33,070) to her for $30,500.
Negotiate............in the end, if your happy, that's all that matters.
There's a reason it's called a Capitalistic Society..........we all work hard, put in lots of hours, and strive to make better lives for our families.
I can guarantee you this, the biggest complainers in this thread complain the most at their jobs when it comes to money and raises.................

Reliable Chevrolet in Springfield, MO has a $199 DOC fee. They are selling the C7's for $1,000 UNDER MSRP. So, if you purchase one, they actually give you a discount of $1199 to offset the DOC fee.

When I keep hearing these comments about all the dealers in FL charge the dealer fees for some reason I keep thinking this sounds like price fixing and that's not legal anywhere.
