My wife is supposed to get a decent sum of money from her step-father soon and we decided that we would get a "Sunday" car. We haven't made up our minds for sure what we're going to get but my first choice would be a 2014 Z51 convertible. I've gone to several lease websites and two of the three show that a Z51 set up the way we'd like is doable but one, Edmunds, shows a much higher monthly payment.
What we're thinking about would be a Z51 1LT fairly light on options, I want the magnetic suspension and black wheels. I really don't care much about nav, different colored calipers, stuff like that. Looks like about $60,000. We'd put about $6 or 7K down. Would this be doable for between $700-800 a month for 48 months? It would be a low mileage lease, 12,000 miles a year.
The things that throw me are the money factor which I think is about .0029, the acquisition fee and the security deposit.
I've got a sneaking suspicion that our local guy won't get more than a couple of coupes and maybe one convertible they sell more trucks than cars. This is a kind of rural area. so I'll have to look out of the area for my car.
We're thinking about the possibility of flying somewhere to pick up the car and taking a few days to drive it home if necessary. Kind of make it a short vacation. Can anyone advise me??

You don't say where you are located. Lots of supporting dealers on this forum - example: Mike Furman at Criswell Chevrolet. If he can't get you into a '14, it cannot be done.

I think you might want to consider doing something else with the money. It just sounds to me like there are way to many unknown variables that could turn bad quick. Maybe use that money to make money and with that money buy something that you wont give back a few years later and you can continue to make money from your initial investment.
If you are going to do a roadtrip, do National Corvette Museum delivery (an extra $995). By all accounts a fantastic experience. I'm doing NCM delivery on my C7.
Convertible Z51, MSRC, Black wheels, no other options is $62,085 MSRP.
You won't get accurate lease numbers until you have all the details for the residual and the actual money factor. That MF you quoted works out to 6.96% which is quite high for one to consider it a good deal.
Also, you don't want to put any money down on a lease. In the event the car is stolen or wrecked you can lose this money. Obviously the monthly payment will be higher, but you have that extra 6-7k in the bank.
Decide what you want to do with this car before looking at leasing. If it is going to be a Sunday only car leasing usually is not the way to go since you are paying for its use but it is just sitting.
If you want to keep the car for a long time a better option is to buy at the current low interest rates (1.99%).

Well, unfortunately, whether I lease or buy I'll be making payments while the car sits regardless. It's going to sit all Winter anyway.

If you don't own a home, my advice would be to invest your wife's soon to be decent amount of money into an appreciating asset, not a depreciating asset such as a C7. If you do own a home and have a mortgage, apply this money to paying off your home.
i vote to save it, if you are only looking at leases then it honestly cant be enough to justify a superfluous sportscar.

I don't understand the lease part, but if the OP can truy afford it, I guess it doesn't matter.
Doing ok financially is defined differently by different people. For example, say someone has $200k saved. Some may see this and say to themselves, "I can easily afford to spend $50k on a car." Others will say, "$50k represents 25% of my net worth...no way."
I agree with the latter, but to each their own.
