Ok, at this point my car is going to be....
Artic White Z51 Red Leather 7spd - 54,795
2LT Pkg - 4,210
Black Wheels - 495
Yellow Calipers - 600
Magnetic Suspension - 1,795
Navigation - 795
Carbon Flash Spoiler & Mirrors - 100
performance exhaust???? - 1200 or after market exhaust probably 1800 but louder
I am debating the performance exhaust option because at its price it is economical and will be financed which is great since I didn't ever plan on spending this much on a non z06/zr1 but is it going to be money that is wasted because it is better but not best and I go ahead and put a corsa race or something loulder on it.
I have an m3 with a corsa sport system that has an amazing tone but is too quite for me as it only takes a really quiet car to the point of how it "should have come stock" so I realize I should have gone with their "race" version instead of their "sport".
I just sold my Granturismo S 4.7, I wired open the muffler valves and that sounded beyond amazing for the tone and volume. Hopefully this will help describe my sound preferences.
Will this performance exhaust make the corvette sound like "how it should be stock" or will it sound like an aftermarket loud but not full race/headers loud?
A lot of guys on here think NPP is the best thing since sliced bread, but I am skipping NPP because I want an aftermarket exhaust that has a bit more oomph and a different style exhaust tip that fits the car better.
My thoughts exactly. I wrote borla an email asking if they could make a CTSV style 2 angular exhausts. Hoping to hear back soon. I also like the mono piece above. I too am doing the same and getting all the bells and whistles except the NPP. I'm sure NPP is great but that's just me.
That pic on the red one looks INSANE. Murcielago style looks great on this back end.
Something like that will probably not be able to be installed in your garage easily I bet and cost 3k+

Shouldn't be too hard, just have that style tip just act as a sort of merge collector and slip on/attach over a normal style muffler setup.
This will actually allow exhaust companies to use the same system but offer different style tips.
I don't want to mod my C7. The NPP exhaust sounds amazing! Some here are comparing it to the sound of the Corsa exhaust.
For 1200, I don't have to mod my car or void any warranty stuff. In addition, the stock exhaust in any flavor works better with AFM (if you plan to use it). The best part is that the NPP doesn't drone.
$1200 isn't that bad, if you think about it. For a new model C7, the cost of the exhaust from the aftermarket is going to be a lot! There's a "New Corvette" tax added onto the normal "Corvette" tax. And then you have to get it all installed. I think that the aftermarket exhaust is actually going to run you more money than the stock NPP.
Unless you're doing headers, you're not going to gain any power from it either. And I bet headers are going to be another $1500-2000 on top of the $800-1000 for just the axle backs that won't be dual mode and maybe $1500-2000 for dual mode mufflers.
So the standard base exhaust has valves in it like the performance exhaust does or no?
Will it sound like the stock c6 z06 mild to wild type of switch or where you just pull a fuse out so they stay loud the whole time?
If this car will sound about the same as a c6 Z with the valves open that is a little on the quiet side but good enough for 1200$ if this is infact the case

Have you heard it in person? I have only heard the videos. Some sound fantastic, and some not as good. Obviously, the microphone and its placement can play a big role.

As far as I know there are no valves in the base exhaust system. Assuming the C7 NPP is similar to the C6 NPP (included on Z06 and optional on other models) the exhaust is straight through when the valves are open. I am not sure aftermarket will be much louder unless you remove the cats (not legal on the street).
The advantage to NPP is you can be sort-of loud when you want and still quiet the rest of the time
If you want the car loud all of the time there is no reason to order NPP. Just get the loudest system you can find installed on your car after delivery.
As for the custom tip, any good stainless fab shop should be able to work something up that could be welded to NPP or aftermarket. The tips are behind the valves.
The adjustability from the cockpit depending on driver mode selected makes the NPP an even more attractive option to me.
The civility when desired and roar when romping on the c6 is fantastic. With AFM I prefer not to fool around with the aftermarket and those systems that eventually find the flexibility are not going to cost 1200 dollars.

That's what I like about it. I prefer it to be quieter when I am not driving like a maniac. Also, according to the Car and Driver video, it is quieter in touring than the sport and track modes.
For me it's the NPP with the easy to install remote fuse and it's attendant fob from a known supplier like Sunset. I've had this in the C6 and loved it.

I have not. But I haven't heard any videos where the exhaust didn't sound amazing. I especially like the magazine videos.
Though, I get your point.

Base exhaust does have valves, but there are only two to help manage the sound in AFM mode. NPP has 4 valves.

I love the mag videos too. This reviewer for car and driver almost puts you to sleep, but the car is totally crank'd several times. It's worth watching if you want to get an idea of precisely how loud the NPP can get.
There are many good parts of the video where he lights it up and you can hear the car in real action. To hear the car revved in track mode, though, go to 6:25. Keep watching and as the video approaches the 7 minute mark, you'll see the car get about a quarter mile away and still be VERY audible.
I've been on several long trips via the highway and there are many times that you want the stock (quiet) exhaust sound. Certainly around town you want NPP's to be open.

Awesome video! Thanks
Race mode would be a choice for fun. Z51 MRC NPP are must have and the duality of the vehicle will make years of usage enjoyable under various conditions....
Ie with passengers...touring....
Up in the mountains or at the track....sport or track mode is bad @ss!
Gottat say torch red exterior is probably my next corvette....still debating seats ...competition or GT....red or black interior.
I don't know, it seems to me this all has to be hashed out yet. Once people have taken delivery of these cars we can find out just how this works. For me I don't think I want to run around in "track" mode all the time just to get the loudest exhaust. My C-5 has Corsa Extremes and I love them ! I get the muscle car sound all the time. Now if there is a way to get the loudest exhaust sound even in touring mode that would be the ticket. Otherwise I think it would be best to go with the stock exhaust and go to a Corsa Extreme or whatever they have for C-7. Just my.02
