I may be in the minority but I still like the C4's "ultra high tech" before its time technology as well as its cockpit.

What could possibly be out there that the C7 is missing in the way of dashboard wizardry?

I'd love to see some way of implementing something like the Tesla Model S' 17" screen. May not need all 17" since space in the C7 is at a premium, but maybe have access to all kinds of engine diagnostics via a large touch screen would be very cool.

There should be wiring in place for lane avoidance, crash mitigation, adpative cruise control, maybe others(the Michigan test for telemetry where you know where and what speeds other cars are at an intersection to avoid T-boning).

I know that most will not want any of these, but if the wiring is in place, you could just plug modules (from GM) at any time if you wanted these sometimes later and upgrade the software. I'm sure GM would charge a fortune for these plug ins.

In addition to all the things Steve listed, there is also front camera, puddle depth sonar, forward-looking radar to gauge upcoming parking spaces on the side of the street, self-parking guidance, bird's eye view 360 degrees around vehicle. Those fanciful things already exist and are implemented on various cars.

Who knows what might be added in the future? More computer interface controls. Cabin webcams and video conferencing. Car-to-car communications and autonomous driving. Top Gear hovercraft fittings.

I am not saying the Corvette will or should include any of those features. But when you ask why anybody should bother planning for open architecture and the ability to integrate new electronics and interfaces, you do it not for the things you have now but for the things you haven't yet considered.

There is one thing digital that's coming in my new Escort 'Max' due to be delivered today. A special (xtra cost) power cord sinks it to your smart phone (after d/loading app) and even folks way up the road with the same device can send a warning to your smart phone when they get a hit such as a speed trap or traffic cam. Kinda makes me feel like I'm in the cockpit getting advance warning of bogies .

I wonder if the upcoming front camera/track package is prewired on all models even if you don't order it on the order sheet so you could get it after the car is delivered?

GM just isn't forward thinking enough to add wiring for upcoming features.

Much of it isn't about being forward thinking. It's more about cost and what they may want to change in a few years to keep up with technology. Not everyone has a crystal ball.

The comment about Tesla is a good example. It is very futuristic. But much of it wouldn't apply to a gas engine car.
