Too bad they couldn't secure any sponsors for this car, I guess the economy still sucks. I hope GM has enough money to go racing all on their own dime.

Did anyone happen to see if this car came with luggage?

Get used to seeing the black and white checkered flags and the C7.R together!

The car ran a few laps at Laguna Seca today. Sadly, it has already shipped out so won't be running on Sunday.

Is the C6 Z06/ZR1 the same width as the current C6.R?

People seem to be concluding that this car means good things for the C7 Z06/ZR1 from a wide body perspective. Unless the C6 Z06/ZR1 is as wide as the C6.R, it seems crazy that some people think the C7 Z06/ZR1 will be similar to the C7.R. I don't know the answer but would be interested.

People are crazy, you know. They can hope, I guess.

FWIS, it appears the racing rules are encouraging the wasp waist effect. Maybe GM can't widen the cockpit but they can put flares in the fenders? I noticed the same look on the Viper.

That's the good thing about having to wait for the C-7 that matters. More time to get finances in order.

Waiting for the C7 "that matters" You are funny.

OR, someone could buy a C7 Z51 today and then trade it for a C7 Z06 in 3 years and get the joy of the C7 now and own the only car "that matters" when it is available

I bet they'll race it as the Z## model and unveil them simultaneously.

Of course the "Z" won't be as wide as the race car, but it's not unreasonable to think there won't be visual differences to the exterior when the Z is introduced. There are changes that can be made to make the car look better and more aggressive. After seeing this race car, I'd bet that the Z will be wider on all 4 corners, have a new (deeper) front fender heat extractor, have a redesigned front bumper and bottom half of rear bumper, and side ground effects.

I am convinced the C7 Z will be the ultimate corvette (driving/handling characteristics will be where I feel they should be). I am just sad that it will be years from now before I can buy one used at a reasonable price.

That's true for some but finances being what they are for me, it seems I'll be waiting.(Hopefully only 2 years)

Tommy Milner was driving the new car. Bring it on, kick those Vipers behinds.

I think the Stingray is just for the base Corvette....so we wouldn't have to call it the "base". I would think the C7R wouldn't have "base car" badging.

Good luck with it looking anything like this. Wider yes, maybe even as wide as a Z06, but not anything this wide.

You would probably have a very hard time parking it in many spots it would be so wide
