Yes. AFM is only active in ECO mode for M7-equipped cars. For A6-equipped cars, I think it is active in all but Track mode. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Based on the chart I added to my post, AFM is only active in ECO mode. No distinction made between auto or manual.

With the automatic, the AFM disengages if you decide to use the paddles on the steering wheel to shift gears. Otherwise, it's on in various degrees of aggressiveness except in Track mode.
PTM is the engine management system (rapidly deactivates/re-activates cylinders) used on a race track. It's purpose is to allow the driver to plant their foot at the apex of a corner and the car will deliver the appropriate amount of torque to the rear wheels as traction allows.
Dial-A-Mode
The rotary switch tailors systems for Wet, Eco, Touring, Sport, or Track modes. The car remembers which mode you were in and restarts in that mode unless it was Track, in which case Sport comes up. Automatic cars activate V-4 mode in the first three modes; manuals only in Eco. Because the car does not default to this mode (as Porsches do), Chevy can't claim full EPA credit for it.

Interesting. MT didn't mention the paddle mode override, or the varying aggressiveness, but it makes sense.

On the automatic, I've read that is only available on the first 3 modes which says to me: Weather, ECO, Touring. I assumed it would not run under Sport and Track.
Edit: I see a few posts up someone linked to the same Motortrend article I read.
