Is it just me or the chevy corvette configurator broken. It seems to not know about its own options.
For example, I select Z51 package but it does not select the MRC. So I check it, and it adds an additional 2k to the price. Plus, if I am reading the options right, Chevy wants to charge almost 2k for targa top that is the same color as your body. I get to almost 70k for a base corvette. Does anyone else find it this difficult to use the thing.
That spreadsheet someone made does a better job than this.
I wish they would hurry and get the "Image" section working already. You would think they designed a new configurator. They're simply using the same one for 2013 and that one still didn't illustrate all of the selections, i.e. top color, caliper color, etc. Oh well GM acts as though they're the only "supercar" in town for $73K. Oh, wait
it worked as advertised for me....I think. I came up with nearly the same numbers from the price list posted here. $72800.00 and some change. this was a few days ago though.....
I am neither a GM/Chevy basher nor apologist. I do have a 2014 Stingray sitting out in their back lot, awaiting shipment. All I can say about the online "Build Your Own" configurator is thank goodness I have been following posts on these boards for over a year. Otherwise I would have no clue what the options mean, what things look like, or how they affect appearance, performance, comfort, or entertainment value.
I have used at least 15 online configurators over the past two years as I researched potential alternatives to the Stingray as well as cheaper economy cars for my girlfriend. The Stingray configurator is objectively the worst one I have come across. No ability to see your choices placed on the car. No explanations for what confusing terminology means. Redundant listings and incorrect or incomplete pricing for options. It's a hot mess and an embarrassment.
Build Your Own configurators are a commonplace now. There are examples from every manufacturer of how they should work. I am simply astonished at the lack of quality and helpfulness in Chevy's version. They need to hire a new project team for this utility.
I too am dissapointed with their website. I ordered one in crystal red metallic with the carbon black dual racing stripes but you can't see what the car will look like on their website. They really have alot of work to do!!!!!!!!
Body color targa comes with it and it is still carbon fiber but the whole thing is painted your body color. Carbon fiber top for $2000 has a visible carbon fiber for most of the targa top with body color trim.
I think there are still some bugs to be worked out...Atleast for now I see that the side-by-side comparison charts do not match the configurator rules/ behavior.

Just curious, what options have incorrect pricing? Also examples of redundant listings.
I agree that this tool is currently not very good, but I am sure that there will be improvements made. Have you tried a different Chevy model for comparison?

Redundancies listed in the available/standard options on the trim comparison page:
I'm a little less sure of my facts on pricing, but I would be pleasantly surprised if striping and grill customization are freebies. I do feel confident that the interior cover isn't free in Kalahari, but $410 in black!
You would think that one of the largest car companies, if not the largest, in the world would have the best " build your own" site around. But, no, they have been wrought with errors galore and total disregard for their customers. This is not rocket science, just building a web site with known prices, options and colors. You get a two picture cabin shot, no motion. Can't get a picture of your car color, or wheel package. This from a company that is building G.M."s halo car.
This is very poor marketing. Certainly not up to the age group they are targeting, I think that Chevy needs to do some research in this department, maybe check out some other mfg. "build your own" sites.
My car is way cheaper on the site than the dealer quoted me, but I guess I won't hold my breath for the better of the two prices.
I guess what I am saying is if you build a world class car, then why have a Yugo website!
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
