What does this means regarding orders and allocations?

This is the best definition I have seen:

Consensus

Consensus is a process, it normally begins on a Thursday and ends the following Tuesday, it starts with dealers being told how many of what model can be ordered, it involves several passes as the orders are matched against allocation then against constraints and finally unused allocations are assigned to dealers willing to use them.

Every Chevrolet model is subject to consensus, and it is easy to see the process can be time/attention consuming.
So, your order will sit until the dealer gets an allocation and uses your order to fill that allocation.

That's pretty concise.

Here's an earlier discussion, hope it isn't confusing.

Outside the world of GM, "consensus" is defined as "general agreement".

In the world of Corvette Forum, "consensus" is defined as "an unnecessary and useless word".

You're welcome

Wait, I got it. The car business loves to misspell words like "gage" which are the things in the center of the dashboard that any 2nd grader knows is spelled "GAUGE".

So, let's break it down:

CONSENSUS

Con: a fabricated event

Sens: A clever misspelling of "SINS", for the acts committed against someone

Us: Who the "CON" and "SINS" are perpetrated against.

Hope that helps

Jimmy

PS. The above is a JOKE/LEVITY/JOCKULARITY/ETC.
My convertible is ordered, don't attack!
