Default Convertible questions- advice

Ok, it looks like my dealer maybe able to get me a convertible slot and that's fine with me. I'm not a track guy and just an old retired guy who wants to go get groceries and take the grandson for a ride now and then. I have searched three forums and find the convertible info somewhat lacking:

1. does anyone have any pics of the car WITH THE TOP UP? I found only a few....
2. the configurator shows no colors for tops...are there diff colors?
3. Does the subs in the sound system in a 1LT or 2 LT change due to the convertible layout? Does anything else IN FEATURES change?
4. and this is an open discussion/bashfest question" - if you were ordering a vert, (yeah I know you're not and love coupes) BUT IF...would you order a "louder" color? For a coupe, I was thinking CGM but for a convertible I'm thinking a tintcoat or torch, to be more outrageous a bit...opinions?

Thank you in advance, even for the potential flames I'll get on this....

Here is link to the PDF that shows the four tops:
http://www.c7stingrayregistry.com/pd...l%20041713.pdf

I'm getting a coupe in CRT with Kalahari interior . Might want to check out the Green or CRT to stand out.

The four top colors are Blue, Gray, Black and Tan.

There aren't many top up pics yet. If you haven't seen the 265 pics from Laguna Seca, go to the link in this first post. There is are several pics of a NRB with Blue top, top up, toward the end, between 150 and 200.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c7-g...guna-seca.html

I'll keep you in mind today, if I come across any other top up pics I'll post back here.

Congrats on your decision to order a new vert. My order just went to 3000 on Tuesday. I also understand your concern/confusion trying to match colors for the vert without some pictures or a decent configurator, for you to try a few different combinations to see what looks good to you. Colors and combinations are very personal and what looks good to me you might hate. But since it is your dollars, it really is your decision.

I was looking at going to Crystal Red on this Vette with a tan interior and top. But when the C7 colors came out, tan was not a choice and it had been replaced with Kalahari. Kalahari is a little more caramel in color (orangey tint) and a lot of people liken it to the color of a new baseball glove. To be honest, I think it will look great with a CR coupe because the CR top will tone down some of the orange appearance when you walk around the car. But I am not sure that the orangey tint in the Kalahari convertible top won't over power the CR. I do think the Cyber Grey with the Kalahari looks great! As I mentioned colors are personal and this is just my opinion.

This is what lead me to the Laguna Blue with grey interior and top. Some people won't like it and that's OK. Like you, I was looking for a color that I thought would pop, both in the sun light and at night. But without a good configurator I was not willing to gamble with $70k and just guess what might look good to me!

Good luck with this process and I hope you come up with a combination that works great!

Oh, I did forget to give my opinion.......I know how much you want it.

I think a Laguna Blue convertible will really pop. Not REAL loud like yellow or Torch Red but stunning.

Of course I'm partial to it because my '08 convertible is Jetstream Blue, a little lighter shade but stunning in the sun light.

Thanks Guys..I have had the same thoughts about the Kalahari - I really like saddle tans and I see the hint of orange too....

Rich - what top did you choose? Grey? I wonder how Laugna/Grey interior/Blue top would look?

Hmmmm...

Glen, the only picture that I have seen of the blue top is on Night Race Blue, which looks very good if you like the NRB, In fact, after jumping off of the CR, I thought the same thing. LB/Grey/Blue Top. Then I had a conversation with Mike Furman from Criswell Chevrolet and when I mentioned that combination, he was a little concerned that the blue top would go as well with the LB and without a configurator to really look at the combination, I decided to not chance it and go the LB/Grey/Grey. Again, color combinations are personal and that combination might work for you! I just wish the configurator worked to help guys like you. Too late for me. With my order at 3000, I am not changing anything! Good luck.

I don't think the Blue top works with the Laguna Blue. But I haven't seen one, it's just that the 2 blues appear so different.

My top is black. Considered the gray but too many complaints about upkeep/staining and I just didn't want to chance it. I like the black top on the bright blue with my gray (Titanium in C6, which really isn't gray) interior.

Rich - It is ridiculous that chevy does not have these colors up. I think I might take a chance on L/G/B as the dark blue top should blend with any other type blue, sorta like grey slacks, light blue shirt and dark blue blazer....or at least I hope........maybe back to cyber/kahalari....I'm not too worried about any color getting dirty, I'm garages and like weekly detailing my rides...

Go for it. Might end up being pretty unique.

Glen - Congrats on your vert!! I did not see the convertible top color in the configurator either. In fact I forgot about it when I built my car, and e-mailed it to the dealer. Rick at Coughlin called me when he got message, and he asked me what color top I wanted. I am going with the Cyber Gray, with Adrenaline Red 3LT interior, Chrome wheels, Red Calipers, and a black top. Our thoughts (mine, my wife, and Rick's)were that the grey top would look like we tried to match the car and failed. My best friend had the best answer...who cares as the top will be down 95% of the time...LOL!!

A "friend" of ours who works for GM brought a Cyber Gray C7 Coupe to our house to look at, and it had 2LT red interior, and Chrome wheels, and red calipers. Seeing it in person, changed my mind from the Laguna Blue, and Crystal Red. (which I love both...but thought I would tire of the blue, and I didn't like how the Crystal gets and orange cast to it in the sun.

Whatever you decide will be great looking I am sure!!

Good Luck.

"brought a car over to look at"

wow - nice friend...my friends just come over for beer money....

I can really see a black top on the CGM....with a red seat interior, it would also allow me to key off red calipers which I don't want to do on a laguna...so maybe CGM/Red seats/black top/red calipers.... trying to do this as a 1LT Z51....hey - it's beer time!

I plan on getting a black vert (Z51/NPP) with a black top and kalahari interior, but what I can't decide on is whether that combo would look good with black wheels with the top down

Convert Question ...
During West Coast promotions featuring the CG convert, it appeared to have a Brownstone interior. Does anyone know what color top was paired with this combination?

Thats a lot of black, and with the top down, it will make the Kalahari stand out - maybe too much. I think machine faced Z51 wheels would set that combo off nicely, but that's unfortunately not a choice. You might want to consider the chrome or silver. I think I would go for the chrome in this case. But it's purely a matter of preference; choose what you want.

I agree, I think that's a lot of black

Here are your visuals: Kalahari top is offered not tan.
The vert is much better looking than the coupe this go around.
The darker colors work best with blending the rear end - Lime Rock Green, Cyber Gray, Night Race Blue, Black

Thank you!

Now we're talking...the Kalahari/cyber is just stunning....I expect we'll see a lot of that combo...and I'm thinking about it...

but also, in looking at the blue top, it certainly looks navy blue, and I think would look OK on the Laguna - we see a similar combo here in florida from MB quite a lot on their two seaters...

what's the gut guess for Laguna/Kalahari? that might be nice...
