Thanks guys! This thread has been really helpful...been going back between stick and auto....ordered auto, then put in change, not sent in yet so still thinking....
I learned on a stick back in the day, but haven't driven one for 14 years, primarily because of the traffic I am required to deal with ...however, I am retiring in 2 years and that will no longer really be an issue for me, at least on a daily basis....I really liked the feeling of being involved with the car that I had when I had stick vehicles that you just don't get from auto...not really trying to shave 1/10ths of a second off the 1320 or even on lap times...just going to have fun with it....

btw, what is this "auto start"? I don't recall seeing that on the option list... Is that only available with auto? Since I'll be garaging mine, not a must have, but might be nice out on trips north ....

Button on the fob that starts the car, climate control turns on to your last setting, activates the heat/ventalation on the seats as needed. Great option when it's cold or hot.

I believe remote start is standard with the A6 cars.

I got the A6 because I intend to use it as a GT and a daily driver (until I retire). This car is just too beautiful to beat up at a race track, IMHO.

I like sticks, but I will probably wait until I get a Beck 550A Spyder with an M4 and a Subaru WRX engine for track duty. 250 HP in a 1400# go-kart just sounds like more fun than Viagra !!

I'll never consider an Auto until they start using a DCT. I am quite impressed with the GTR (Driven a few modded ones, amazing).

My knee is still good. I'm still driving a manual.

When my knee goes, apparently so will the excitement of driving.

I ordered the automatic for a few reasons:
1-I live near Boston and traffic is horrible - do not need a 7 speed manual in traffic.
2-Most of the time I will be crusing on the highway (outside of Boston) no shifting required.
3-The torque of the Corvette needs a 7 speed close ratio manual like why? All the 70's muscle cars did just fine with 4 speeds. A fifth speed overdrive would have been fine!
4-I think a manual would get old pretty quick - I do not need to shift to enjoy a Corvette!

I have a Ferrari 328 GTS that I thoroughly enjoy using the manual transmission and clanking the gears through the metal gated shifter. The C7 I ordered is an automatic.

Back in the late 70's through the mid 80's when I was selling (and driving Porsche's) I said more than once I'd never have an automatic.

There's a word 'Evolve'.

I ordered my C7 with manual, then woke up before it was to late. Nearing 70 and back problems with a screaming sciatic nerve and good reports of Auto's in many performance cars gave pause to re-think. Before it was too late, order was changed to Auto w/paddles.

Nothing wrong with either choice in my opinion, I've just Evolved .

BTW, loving the CVT in my RXh.

I know this is off topic but Decompression helped my back and got rid of sciatic nerve 3 years ago.

Waiting for my 7m C7. For me it's pure pleasure of shifting nothing else and that sense of control over the car. Its not a DD just a week end toy. In rush hour traffic daily would be a different story...

Default Off topic disclaimer

My exercise room downstairs has a Teeter hangup. It's used most mornings along with my commercial version of the 'Total Gym'. You can get these things nearly new at sports equipment shops. They sell stuff given to people or bought and never used for about 1/2 price. I've already had two steroid shots in the lower back, next procedure would probably be an operation and I'm trying to avoid it.

To maintain the topic, yea the remote start will be nice when it gets cold and it's outside. At home tho she'll be kept in the garage.

I watched the loooooong video interview from a few days ago of the roundtable discussion. Some mention of the auto was in there and they really liked how it gave very good manual performance when using the paddles.
