Coupe/convertible. $5,000.00 difference
So this afternoon I'm messing with the new configurator using a split screen. Coupe/convertible. Same color/options. S/o is watching over my shoulder .............. She notices the price difference and casually reminds me of the Alaskan cruise I'd promised her we'd take in the near future .................. Sooooo ......... As badly as I wanted the drop top ...... (sighs) And because I abhor violence ....... of the kind that involves my own body as a beta test I told her I'd order the coupe and put the $5K towards the trip. Gives me the excuse to take the car ferry from Seattle to Alaska ! Now all I need to do is convince her to get a passport so we can drive back across Canada .............. Am I a sneaky little devil ?

With the exception of the 85 Vette I owned all my Vettes have been convertibles. The only reason the 85 was a convertible was they were no made that year. I really want to get a 2015 convertible but may wind up with a coupe because there will be more room for my dogs.
I let my dogs ride up front with me but there are times when I have to put them in the back in a dog cage. I have more than a years to figure things out with the dogs and I know some people may think I am crazy for letting my dogs ride in a new Vette but they go where I go.
If you really want the ragtop just get it now and save yourself the hit on the trade-in a few years from now. As nice as the targa top is it's not the same as a true convertible.

Oh I do know that. My '62 followed by my '67 set the mold. I even had one in '06. I have a balancing act to deal with and I will go with a coupe initially in order to get a C7 and keep peace with my wife. Kind of like Blue Ox, in a few, there should be some C7 drop tops on the market used. At that point, I'll simply trade the coupe for one.
I'm thinking I could be 4-8 weeks from delivery on my coupe. If I thought I could get my order changed to the same car in a drop top, I'd give heavy consideration. But that would probably slow me down a bunch. Coupe will be fine.

Yeah, but this time I think I'll be going with a coupe because I don't want any barriers to hitting a track.

Not to go o/t but I do hope they are secured in the car. TX will write for that if one is involved in an accident or use it as an excuse for a traffic stop. Then the SPCA gets involved. You'd think they were Child Protective Services .......... ................

Heh ........ If I am lucky, she will by then be playacted by the Alaska trip. Especially if I pull off the Canada part too. At that point I don't think she'll care what I buy as long as I don't ask her to go on a long trip again.

Is she afraid the convertible means topless as in pervertible ??? sorry, couldn't help myself

not to disappoint your s/o, IMO the "inside passage" Alaska cruise is a waste of time & money.
Been there, done that. Ground time in Seattle & Vancouver was good, however.
The "outside passage" itinerary could be better, but is longer and costs more.
Get the C7 'vert that you want, and plan a better trip for both of you.

Get the car. alaska cruises are not what they advertise. You will get more enjoyment
out of the car. One week on a cruise you back home going oh boy that fun and
all forgotten. The car can give more return for years.
I was gone for 3 weeks both cruise and land. If was a choice of that or car, it would
be the car

I may have to show her your post. Were you still thinking of the Federal Witness Relocation Program ?
Get the car that suits you now - tomorrows are not a given . . . .
Do the Alaska cruise you want - tie in Canada - whatever - tomorrows are not a given . . . .
NOW, getting down to serious business. Lets talk about the need for you to do some Salmon fishing in Alaska, and ship your CF friends some frozen and canned Salmon, from your fresh catches. I'm salivating already . . .

That's part of the reason I want to drive to Seattle instead of flying. The odds are she'll want to go home by the time we get there. Half way through doing the CA Mission Trail tour she tells me it's time to go home. Still trying to talk her into finishing it. There are 8 missions in N CA we haven't seen. I'll do it myself if I have to !

It depends on a few things, If I am running a few errands the dogs are next to me on the front seat. Or I will put them both in a 2 foot high by 2 foot wide and 3 foot long cage in the back. or they are put into a harness attached to a seatbelt. On short trips they ride in my Volt, on long trips they ride in my Dodge crew cab. They have never been in my 62 Vette, but they have been in my 96 Vette convertible. The reason I am considering a 2015 coupe isI can't bring the cage and the only option is to have them ride in the front seat. Boston terriers are very sensitive to the heat which makes it necessary to keep the top up and windows closed. Before I got the dogs I never turned on the A/C till the temps were near 100 I love the heat
