Default Performance Traction Management

From the C7 Owners' Manual, page 9-43

"Performance Traction Management integrates the Traction Control, StabiliTrak, and Selective Ride Control systems to provide improved and consistent performance when cornering...To experience the performance benefit of this system, after entering a curve and at the point where you
would normally start to increase acceleration, fully press the accelerator pedal. The Performance Traction Management system will
modify the level of engine power for a smooth and consistent corner exit."

Like most people here, I've owned a bunch of hot cars, but none ever came with an owners' manual that instructed me to floor it coming out of a curve. I can't wait to get my hands on this thing. If it were in my garage at this moment I'd probably grab my helmet, head straight to the track, and do a few laps.

That actually makes me a bit nervous. I have spent hundreds of hours trying to perfect corner exits and now I need to trust the car to do it for me. It will take some nerve the first time I try this to actually trust I won't end up in the woods

I'll just work up to full on throttle over a few laps.

First time I tried launch control was a bit nerve wracking. LC mode on, clutch in, and . . . floor it. With my mind while thinking about the instructions thinking, "yeah right."

Basically goes against everything your old man ever drilled into your head. But works fine.

Within PTM there are modes available that you can control, one being you can turn it off. So if you want to do it without PTM overiding the driver you can.

@gthal Not necessarily. The software can't substitute for driving ability. It isn't a replacement for the skills we've spent years developing, but rather an aide and an enhancement. I think we'll find the systems will augment what we know and make us feel like we're actually doing it better. And we may really be doing it better, in this instance not so much because of better skills, but rather more because of a better car. Even the most master craftsman is better when you give him better tools.

I can't believe GM's legal dept. actually approved that language in the OM.

I will probably try that at some point, but I also will remember the time that I was using maximum braking on new set of tires, and just then the ABS decided to stop working.

@Gary '09 C6 - Agreed. Perhaps they will start requiring us to sign disclaimers before accepting delivery of Z51's, similar to what Mercedes does with their Black Series cars.

I'm just thinking of all the customers who read that, have never been on a track with proper instruction,
and think, "OK...this should be easy"

It IS astounding that a product this potentially dangerous can even be produced in our society with any suggestion whatsoever of utilizing its performance capabilities, isn't it?

what a concept !

just read about all the ridiculous lawsuits pursued by folks who didn't use common sense.
The old lady spilling hot coffee in her lap while driving, and suing McDonald's, comes to mind.

people really need to think first...

My first wife should have come with a disclaimer. Or at least a warning label.

Think of the warning on the front window shadescreens used when parked, "REMOVE while the vehicle is in motion". I'm not kidding.

Yours and mine are keepers. An instruction manual would have been helpful at times, tho. . .
