I'm debating the suede inserts option on my car. I think they are nice but what are the benefits?
Obviously it will help with racing/tracking the car so you're not slipping around in the seat. Any other benefits?
Too me it will be a pain when it comes to keeping clean. Even in summer it may seem warmer than just leather. What do you think? Does suede wear out quickly?
Who all is getting it? And why no suede/microfiber steering wheel?
I'm getting them on my car. Black GT seats, with black seat inserts. From what's been discussed in this forum, the suede holds up well, and cleans up well. I'd rather sit on suede than leather.
We are also getting the suede inserts. They're really nice (saw some in person, although not black on black like xfactors said / we are getting also).
I hate 'sticking' to the leather in the summer with my shorts on. It's 100+ degrees here in the Summer and don't like burning myself on the leather either when I get in.
They're comfy to sit on, look good, and were mandatory / non-negotiable part of my spec conversation with my hubby on what we're ordering.
They only come in certain color combos though, so be forewarned about that if you decide to go with them. We had considered getting the red interior with our Laguna Blue car, but saw no inserts on the red allowed so chucked that idea to go with an all black interior so we can have the microfiber.
Can't speak from experience, but my friends that have the micro suede swear by it. I will be ordering the inserts on my C7. They're cooler in the heat, wear as well or better than leather, and clean up very easily and look great.
The 2LT doesn't come with any Suede or options for suede. Unless you order competition seats then they have some suede in the those seats and they add it to the steering wheel?
With the 3LT you have several optional suede pieces you can get including headliner, seats, pillars?
Could someone please explain this to me? I love the look of the suede in person but I think to get it I'd have to spend another $4K on the 3LT, then another $2K on the inserts. Not sure though.

I think you can only get the inserts on the comp seats. Do we know if they are available with the 3LT? I have them on my vette and they are amazing. Also love the feel of the wheel wrapped in suede, no slip.
Hendricks has a inbound C7 2LT blk on blk with the suede inserts. So it looks like the inserts are a standalone option.
I take it the inserts are on the GT seat? I tried to build it and it wouldn't let me add them without the Comp seat.
Also if your going to order get the suede upper trim it looks great and you see no plastic. Covers the A posts and headliner area. The two cars I saw had it.

Suede is an option on the 2LT, Both GT and Competition Seats.
1LT is where it's not an option at all.
3LT Suede is damned near everywhere.
Competition Seats adds Suede to the Wheel and Shifter, They are not available on 1LT cars - Only 2LT and 3LT.

For the C7, I am getting black leather without suede because I don't intend on keeping this one - upgrading as soon as the Hi-Po comes out; the extra expense was not necessary. However, I used to have Grand Cherokee with light gray leather and suede that I drove more than 80K miles, and the suede still looked as good as new. I hope that answers your concern.
I have it on my Carbon and love it! Looked and felt nice in the C7's that had it at Carlisle. The seat inserts not only feel great but they really help to keep you planted in the seat.
My 2012 GS Vert 4lt had the suede inserts and we loved them. Very comfortable, easy to care for and classy looking IMO. The Platnium edition XTS I am driving now has it everywhere that isn't covered with leather. The entire roof and a,b and c pillars are covered with it. Beautiful in our opinion and when we order our 2015 Stingray it will be the same way.
I have a 3lt coming with no suede inserts. The suede works so well holding you in your seat that it becomes a PITA getting out. You can not slide your (_!_) across the seat. I tried them both at Carlisle...

this is exactly why I did not do it either - I like the "turn and slide" to get out. Also std "leather" is easier to clean as it's not really true leather, but plastic covered leather...all cars are these days...
On the durability question, my 2007 Trailblazer SS has an early version of the suede inserts. 80,000 miles and lots of jumping back in it with wet trunks after launching/loading the boat. The seats are still in good shape.

GM has a napa leather option. This has gotta be real leather.
GM should own up to the fact that they are using plastized leather - if this is true.
When I bought my new 73 with the leather option, I found out yrs later that the leather was only used on the seat sides and not the top.
GM was never up front with that fact.
