So, like a lot of you folks I’m a fanatic about who drives my car - if anyone – except for me.
When my C7 comes in for delivery is it reasonable to tell the dealer that I want to be there every time the car is started and driven on the lot until I pick it up.
I don't want to think about someone "test driving" the hell out of it or impressing their friends/co-workers before I pick it up.
Your thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.

My opinion is invalid since my C7 is a rental ..... however, I wouldn't worry too much about the dealer/ workers abusing customer cars.

Take a picture of the odometer when its unloaded from the truck. Then tell service and sales not to drive the car except to fill it with gas.
When you pick it up note the new mileage.

I know a guy who worked at a car dealership. He had a different opinion.
I'd rather have them leave the gas tank empty, than take a chance the car got scratched with the nozzle. Not worth it.
One guy on CF said he refuses PDI. I've not told them that, but I do tell the dealer to leave all the plastic on, and don't wash the car. I'll take it as is.
hopefully your dealer has a dedicated corvette tech. make sure this tech is the only one to touch your car. i would do the same as far as being their from start to finish when your car arrives at dealer to your receipt of car. he11 back in 94 i bought a new wrangler and asked dealer to not drive and had to repeat myself several times because they wanted to fill the tank for me. i would also want to save all the stuff that is in the car from plastic to stickers on windows all of it. i work in a buick gmc dealership and we just had a guy pickup his new 2014 p/u the general manager came out and asked me to be very careful with truck as new owner was lets say overprotective. to those of us that love cars i see this as normal behavior. enjoy your new car!

I am a guy that works at a dealership and we all have different opinions
It all comes down to the person driving the car, everyone is different. Most are not going to beat the snot out of them. But yes some will leave some tire smoke on a back road. I wouldn't be to worried about it though.
If you're really worried about someone driving your car your best bet is to be there if you can. Last Monday I was waiting at the dealer when the truck arrived at 12:30. I removed the cover, the dealer inspected and signed for the car. The odometer showed 5 miles. The Corvette tech did a quick PDI without driving it. I drove it across the street and filled it with Shell 93. It took 17.6 gallons, I paid with a purchase order from the dealer then returned with the receipt. Put over 100 miles on it Monday, then returned to the dealer Tuesday and paid for the car
Note: even after more than 24 hours the invoice still hadn't arrived when we did the paperwork Tuesday . The dealer simply called GM and they sent a copy electronically right then. So if a dealer says he can't deliver your car because of no invoice, that excuse doesn't hold water except maybe after business hours.

Actually, it happens. My friends were salesmen at a local dealer the beat the crap out of C6 z06s in 2005 when they first came in. I told my dealer I knew about the fact I knew what happened back then and that I wouldn't accept the order if I even got a hint it was driven off the lot, let alone extra miles on it that aren't on the delivery manifest.
I don't see the big deal. When I worked as a Ford tech we did PDI's on everything. The only car we didn't forgive was the Ford GT. Our policy was if you don't trust us, buy somewhere else. Our route added 8 miles to the car. Most cars arrive with 5 to 8 miles on the odometer. You don't know how they were driven then either. Stop being **** guys. Has any one of you ever picked a car up with bald tires or a blown engine?...........And I thought the GT500 customers were bad.
It's a car. In three years or less we will all want the newest one. It's not a masterpiece or remotely rare. There will be 30,000 just like your 2014 model. Let the dealers do there thing and quit acting like you have never had anything in your life.

Most sensible comment I think I've ever heard on CF. I am a little protective of my cars as well but at the end of the day I realize it is just a car.
This is a ordered car. There shouldn't be hardly any miles on it. When i ordered my 02 mustang gt it had .2 miles when i picked it up. There is no reason it should have much more than that. tell them you don't care if it only has a quarter tank of gas.

I agree with you. Some people lose all common sense when it comes to a new car. The dealership wants your repeat business but don't place ridiculous demands on them when your car comes in. Be realistic about it or you will be known as that crazy guy with the Corvette.

I've never seen any car come in with miles that low. They normally had 3-5 miles on them. Then some are selected for random extended driving and have between 30-40 miles when they arrive. They normally had a sticker attached notifying you of that. If you don't drive the car the PDI is not complete technically. Like it or not.
