After having done the Precision Drive today with the C7, the only thing to really say is that this is a great car. Unfortunately you only get enough time behind the wheel to get a taste, not enough to really get comfortable with the car or or get a feel for the track we were on. But it certainly was fun.
I know they are going to do a few of these around the country (today was their first). If you get invited to it, definitely go.
I was also there. The drives are short and the waits are long. Of the three driving sessions, one allows you to stretch the car's legs a bit (plenty for me but probably not enough for better drivers). Learned some new things about the car, and one of the class sessions gave me some useful driving tips.
The best segment was a track of about 1 1/4 miles, with straits and turns, so you could feel the power and handling of the car. My group of three was led (I think) by Pancho Carter (someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was who we were introduced to), and he lead us on one reconnaissance lap (describing on the radio what the lines were in the turns, etc.) Then two faster laps, in which I learned I totally suck as race driver (no big surprise there). We are supposed to get a dash cam video of our drives from that segment of the program.
MMC is a great track, were you guys on the long course (3.8 miles) or did they section the track off? You had a nice day, glad you guys got to enjoy it!
They sectioned it so that they could handle more people and focus the drive on specific aspects of the car, such as the different feel of the drive modes.
A friend of mine posted some pics on FB of all the cars they had there, must have been around 15 or so. Sounds like you had a good time and good learning experience. Glad you enjoyed!
My group did the "high speed" run first, which meant we had no feel at all for the car yet. We did a shorter, more winding run, last, which lasted about 15 minutes. At that point I (and everyone else) was bit more comfortable with the car, so we could push it a little more. We got up into the high 80's on this track, which I suspect is almost as fast as we had gotten on the "high speed" track.
Grand total we probably got to only spend 40 minutes driving the car. But it was free, and better than any ride you pay a fortune to go on at Disney.
