That new c7 z51 is stunning. Have the dealer try the upload as suggested and at the very least they are on top of the situation.

Better to haveitrightbefore before delivery

I just talked to the head tech, and they already tried the software fix with no luck. He gave me more detail and said that it was fine going straight, but the ediff would get stuck in the fully locked position. That is what the whine was. The same sound you would hear if you ever tried to make a tight turn in a 4x4. Part will arrive on Monday.

The ediff stuck in locked? That would be a world's first.
Man, I would love to see this car...
Either a freak car, or lack of product knowledge on part of the dealership.

What is so unusual about that? The mechanical parts are controlled by the electronic module. There are millions of physical locations inside the module that can fail and one of the failure modes may cause the diff to lock. The FAB that supplies the module may have had a bad run where something didn't get deposited correctly when assembling the circuits on the chip and the failure shows up as an infant mortality.

The failure could also be due to a programming error causing the module to lock up the diff when a certain combination of conditions occur. There are thousands of potential points of failure where something like that could occur. I don't know if it has gotten any better since I retired but we used to figure on at least 3 design errors per thousand lines of code. With the fat code that results from state of the art software development processes you can get a millions of lines of code for something that is very simple. It is almost impossible to eliminate all of them before releasing a product for build so manufacturers follow a problem take down process and use statistics to determine when the discovered problem rate gets down to an acceptable level to ship the initial product.

And we've both got the solid red roof which I think adds more pop. I also ordered the Navi, C/F dash, NPP, and Mag Ride. If you have those options, we have sisters . Except you have yours now and I'm still at 3400 as of this morning's check.

I was on my way back to the dealer around 5pm when the salesman said it failed PDI. Apparently during the test drive, they heard banging, buzzing, and hissing coming from the rear diff. They had already checked it for oil so that was not the issue. They talked with Detroit and their best guess is that it is the EDiff control module. They are sending one but I won't get my car until Monday now, assuming that is the problem. I'm very disappointed but I'm glad the dealer caught it before I took delivery and more damage was caused. The car has 13 miles on it was was just built on the 27th, and was never put on QC hold.

I know this is a new car and being one of the first to buy one means dealing with these kind of issues.

I'm still very excited and am confident that Chevy will make fixing my car a top priority.

One a happy note, here are some pics.

THAT ATTIDUDE ROCKS!!!!!!!! You are on my team now man....just enjoy the excitement and dont be a Debbie Downer about every issue that there is to complain about....I see this forum filled full of sick Pessimists and Negative attitude.....Get in it, drive it and have fun.....It has a noise, let them fix it, then drive it....I will support one little winey issue: It totally sucks to not have had it for the weekend....But a gorgeous Red coupe I am so happy for ya man....

That car is hot! I love red...

I'm sure they can fix the problem, but it sucks that you have to wait. Oh well, it could be a lot worse.
